AU: Sabre the Legal Vigilante
Type: Angst
Characters: (Spathi) Sabre, Plague Steve, Nightmare
Note: Based on/Inspired by Ranger's idea on my Plague Steve speedpaint - thanks again Ranger >:3 (Also, this is prior day 3) (A good song to go with this prompt I feel like is "Viper" by Derivakat). Sorry, it's shorter again - I didn't have much time to write this as schoolwork/homework was hard and time consuming.

Sabre POV

Huwosi - a gene-altering disease that changes basically everything you are, mutates you into a inhumane being that will eventually find the end by themselves. Ever since the continuous attacks on me by those infected by it, more and more have been found infected and the kingdom is put under lockdown, a quarantine. Sir Light has informed me about the possible location of its originating point, based on rumours and some research with scarce results. It's quite far from the centre of the kingdom - literally in the periphery of it all and actually near where supposedly the thing called Darkness actually leaked in. My mission is to verify whether the report of a villain's sighting is true or not. Though, I was surprised that they'd send me somewhere like this after the poisoning attempt few weeks ago.

It didn't take long for me to get to the location with my incredible speed. In sight was an abandoned greyish blue warehouse, big part of the roof and wall missing, gathered water dripping in. Long dark green vines with withering effect covered walls, decaying the building more than natural causes. After making sure the surrounding area is safe and coast clear, I entered the building quietly. The air was thick with dust and the odd smell of mold, making me grateful that my air filtering mask was repaired before sending me here without good armour. I listened for any possible sounds an enemy could make, but everything was quiet. No birds chirping, wind blowing, the floor barely creaking which I found suspicious. There were quite a few rows of shelves containing various things: books, cardboard boxes, cutlery, paper, etc. it felt more like a messy drawer rather than a containment unit.

It didn't seem like the report was true. Sure, a disease of sorts might've come from here since there's equipment for that too, but there aren't any signs of the villain-in-loose Nightmare being here, let alone anyone else.

Third person POV

The thing Sabre didn't know was someone watching him from above. Two people actually, at least. One being Nightmare and the other who he has never met - a new member of the villain league. He has a pale green skin with darker hair of green and blue, wearing a hoodie of the same colours but mixed up. He had darker greyish blue trousers, more to the baggy side, and white sneakers, though dirt and mud was clear on it to see. That member was recruited after Nightmare's surprising defeat when this Sabre was newly recruited himself. His speed was beyond the villain's own imagination, reminding him of his dead brother. Or so he at least assumed. The new villain specialised in poisons, something deadlier, stronger. He happened to have knowledge in most dangerous toxins in the world, partly because he's made of those of like, 95% - nearly 100%.

Then, he nodded to the recruit, letting him know to take action. The "newbie" didn't hesitate for even a moment and jumped down at the hero below him, taking him by surprise. But Spathi recomposed quickly and got the attacker in blue-green hoodie off of him. The fight began. The villain used quick on strong hits towards the blindfolded man which the hero managed and continued to dodge effectively. Soon enough, to the hero's demise, the diseased bad guy jumped behind him and attacked with a small sharp weapon, similar to a syringe. Spathi screamed out in pain and clutched his right shoulder since it was the closest to the attack point of his back. He immediately felt himself feel sick and nauseous, paling quicker than water freezing in the coldest parts of the world and losing his footing from losing consciousness as quickly as a light goes out. The toxin had been very effective, taking affect immediately.

"Hm." Nightmare hummed with content. "That was quicker than I thought, honestly. Whatever that toxin was worked perfectly. Can't say I'm not pleasantly surprised, Plague."

"What can I say, I'm a master level expert when it comes to this topic. Since the mix of poison you'd tried last time didn't work, I had my suspicions and tried something else. From the reaction speed... Well, we have a lot to discuss."

"Sounds splendid. I'll take him and then we can head to our base of operations."

"Sounds good to me." Plague Steve nodded. Nightmare jumped down and landed with a thumb. He walked over to sick unconscious Sabre and picked him up like a book.

"No kidding... That toxin is already eating up his weight too."

"Oh? Well that's certainly news." The insane madman smirked. "Oh this will be feast to chat about."

"Can't wait for the wonderful interesting news." Beeman smiled smugly and teleported the three of them to their HQ.
