I hear a knock on the door.
I: "Come in"
"How are you doing," X enters my room holding a knife.
I: "There is no need for that"
He snarls, but happily replies: "Consider it a precaution"
As I grab a picture of my sister, X continues: "What is the purpose of our life? And what if we find ourselves with no purpose in a world that appears indifferent?"
I: "Living for the sake of living"
Seemingly on autopilot he notes: "Natural suggestion," and swiftly discards the picture.
"But ultimately futile," I falter, grabbing his knife.
X: "Taken to the logical conclusion"
I begin to sever the net covering the window: "Hardly a preventative measure"
"Sufficient for most," He eases onto my bed.
Pointing at his knife, I comment: "Unnecessary risk"
X chuckles: "Survival instinct kicking in?"
A closer look at the knife reveals an "A" engraved into the handle.
"Of course" I mumble stepping onto the window.
Anticipated apprehension arises as my feet inch closer to the edge.
