Puppet could identify that two of the four students she was facing as class 1-A students; Kirishima and Tokoyami. The third kid she recognized from back when the League had attacked the Pussycats' training camp; a student of class 1-B, the kid that looked like a bug and had a quirk that sprouted blades from his skin — Kamikiri. The fourth and final kid was older than the others, with short indigo hair and a white cape with a hood. The fingers of his right hand seemed to sprout into tentacles and his left hand looked like a clam shell; Amajiki.
As Puppet looked over them, her gaze lingered on Tokoyami for an extra second, a grimace briefly crossing her features.
Her gaze shifted and stayed fixed on Amajiki. His quirk and fight style were still a mystery to her, so he posed a much greater threat.
So their plan was to split us all up and pick us off. Her face twitched. They probably matched them up with us so they can counter our quirks.
In the moments that she contemplated what to do, the four young heroes started to encircle her. She immediately took notice, her gaze drifted over all of them before stopping to look at Kamakiri.
She jumped at him, landing within arm's reach. He startled at how fast she moved.
"I know what you can do," she said speedily, "and I don't feel like dealing with it."
Without giving him a chance to take action, she ejected a throwing knife into her hand and plunged it into his side.
He yelled out and tired to slice at her with a blade sprouting from his forearm. She swiftly jumped back to avoid being hit.
She threw out a string and caught the handle of the throwing knife still imbedded in his side. She yanked the string, jerking the knife out of his flesh and flicking it back into her hand.
She heard the rapid thump, thump, thump of feet running and her eyes snapped to the side. Kirishima had started charging at her, his arms up, guarding his face.
She quickly turned to back to Kamakiri, seeing his stance falter as his attention turned to his injury. She quickly used his distraction to her advantage and coiled a string around his leg. She swung the string and threw the bug-like teen at the redhead.
The two collided and their heads crashed against each other. Kirishima stumbled but caught the other teen in his arms. Once he had caught him, he ran back to where both Amajiki and Tokoyami were standing.
Kirishima placed the injured teen down carefully onto the grass, finding that he had fallen unconscious. He stood up straight and looked back at Puppet.
"Remember, she moves a lot like Mr. Aizawa," he said to the two standing beside him. "We've gotta be careful about her speed."
The villain pressed her lips into a line and her eyes narrowed. They've done their research — this won't be easy then.
The eldest student looked down at the bug-like teen, then at the two others that were uninjured.
"Take care of his wounds," he said. "I'll protect you."
Puppet tilted her head. "Will you now?"
He looked at her with a glare. "Yes, I will."
The ends of the tentacles morphed and sprouted spiky yellow fruits with green stalks. He swung the combination of tentacles and pineapples around like maces, forcing the villain to keep her distance.
Puppet identified patterns in his fight style and used that as best she could. She dodged a few of the attacks, getting progressively closer to him.
Amajiki quickly noticed his predictably as she neared him. As a result, he changed his attack pattern, and before she could slash at him, he pivoted, kicking her in the stomach with a bird-like foot.
The kick sent her into the air. Almost immediately after, she was grabbed by large tentacles that had sprouted from Amajiki's fingers. She grabbed at the tentacles, attempting in vain to pry them off; his grip was too strong.
He swung her down hard towards the ground.
She realized that hitting the ground that hard would be difficult to come back from. Quickly working, she lashed out with strings from both hands. One hand had razor sharp strings, the other, only dull. She wrapped the dull strings around nearby branches in the trees and the razor sharp ones around the tentacles.
She first pulled on the sharp strings, slicing through the tentacles. They fell from around her figure and to the ground in bloody chunks, freeing her. She then yanked on the dull strings in the trees, pulling herself into the cover of the canopy.
She steadied herself on a tree branch that was large enough to hold her weight and looked down at the indigo-haired teen, who returned her gaze.
"You're strong, kid. I'll give you that.." she grumbled, "but I'm done playing nice."
"If you think that I've gone all out then you're wrong," Amajiki hissed back at her, his arm morphing from tentacles into a swordfish.
A sword. Her eyes narrowed at the new weapon. Only as good as its wielder.
Unfortunately for Puppet, Amajiki turned out to be a skilled swordsman. She had jumped down from the tree branch, attempting to overpower him with strings. He cut through all of them with ease, and gave her no opportunities to get in close.
After jumping back, she ejected throwing knives into her hand and threw them at him. He used his hand that was a clam to effortlessly shield himself from the blades.
With his focus diverted to the throwing knives, Puppet was able to wrap strings around one of his legs.
Amajiki's eyes went wide and he shifted in alarm.
Before he could retaliate, she yanked him forward and threw him into the nearest tree. He slammed back-first against it hard, his head hitting the trunk and bark. He slumped to the ground in a sitting position, his head bobbing forward. All of the characteristics from his quirk faded and he looked like a normal teenager.
Quickly to make sure that he wasn't going to get in her way, Puppet wrapped strings around the trunk of the tree, tying him up with it. Her strings were so tight around him that if he came back to consciousness, he would barely be able to move—if at all.
"Suneater!" Kirishima yelled from nearby, causing the villain's attention to shift to him. He started to run at her, his fist wound back in preparation for a punch.
She blocked his first hit and dodged his second, then jumped away, getting out of close range with him. She shot out strings as she jumped away and managed to wrap them around his arm, but they snapped against the jagged edges of his hardened skin.
She frowned, her nose crinkling in disdain. So that's why he was matched against me, she deduced. When his quirk is active, he can break my strings.
She backed up, gaining some distance as she formulated a plan. Kirashima would be a hard match if his skin was impenetrable, but he was also slow, and she knew that that kind of quirk always had some sort of physical limit.
How long will he last?
