UCLA

As I leave my family home, where I say goodbye to my parents. My mum (Stephanie aged 41) and my dad (Ryan aged 42) alongside my little sister (Bailey aged 15) and my other little sister (Quinn aged 10).

My dad drives me to my new home. UCLA.

We get there and he helps me take my stuff into my dorm room where I realise my roommate hasn't arrived yet. My dad drops everything off before he says goodbye and leaves to head back to Mississippi where I've grown up for the last 8 years of my life. I start to unpack when another girl comes in. "Hey I'm Lottie" she says
"I'm Logan" I say
"Nice, so what you studying here?" She asks
"I play for the soccer team and I study, sport rehab and English lit" I say
"I play for the team too, guess we aren't only roommates but teammates as well. I also am studying biology and physics" she says
"What position?" I ask
"Goalie and you?" She asks
"Midfielder" I say
She starts to unpack as well, "I got an email saying we need to go along to the soccer changing rooms, we've got a meeting to meet everyone" I say
"Okay come on then" she says and wraps her arms around my neck.

We walk to the changing rooms and we see everyone. They all start to introduce themselves but one I seem to recognise. I go over to her "hey I'm Logan" I say
"I'm Trinity" she says
"Your Trinity Rodman. Aren't you?" I ask
"Yeah and your Logan walker the absolute baller" she says
"I wouldn't say that" I say
"Well you have played professionally for Mississippi Brilla FC and Nashville soccer team" she says
"Yeah but you play for a good team as well" I say
"Yeah but just waiting for a US national call up now" she says
"Wait your not American are you?" She asks
"No Canadian" I say

We start to talk to everyone. Me and Lottie head back to our room and start talking about our family.

"Well my fams pretty complicated. My dad left when I was 4 and then my mam was destroyed. But we got on with it, when I turned 10 she was slowly getting better and then met this guy who adopted me and I love him. She had my two siblings Daniel my younger brother who's now 14 and my little sister Erin who's 10. So yeah it's obviously more complicated than that but that's probably the easier version" Lottie explains

"My parents had me and we lived in Canada then they had my sister Bailey who's 15 now. But then when my other sister Quinn was born we moved to Mississippi, I don't actually know why" I say

We keep talking before one of the girls knock on the door. I open it and she says "I don't think we met properly I'm Evelyn. I came by to say theirs team bonding in our room. Wanna come?" She asks
"Alright come on Lottie" I say

We walk with Evelyn to her room and we walk in all the girls were there. We sit down and play truth or dare. "So Logan truth or dare?" Hannah asks me
"Truth" I say
"You in a relationship?" Hannah asks
"No" I say

We finish truth and dare and me and Lottie go back to our room. "So is your name like Charlotte or is it just Lottie?" I ask
"My full name is Charlotte but I prefer Lottie. Charlotte sounds way too sophisticated for me" she says and starts to laugh
I laugh and say "so what did you think of the girls?"
"They all seem really nice what about you?" She asks
"Yeah they're amazing, I think me and you are the closest though. I quite like trinity as well, she seems cool" I say
"Yeah I get that vibe from Trinity, she's amazing at football and I literally didn't imagine her to be so nice" Lottie says
"Anyway don't you play pro football, so why did you come to UCLA?" Lottie asks me
"Yeah I do, but I just want to play college football as well as getting somewhat of a degree" I say
"anyway have you ever been called up to the Canadian national team?" Lottie asks
"Once but I turned it down, I turned 17 and I wasn't ready. I said I would be ready once I turned 18 so I'm waiting it out now" I explain
"When's your birthday?" She asks
"4th September" I say
"Nice" she says
