Clay just walks away from the playground and sits on a bench as he contemplates whether he should listen to his tape or not.

Clay Jensen: How in the hell am I supposed to listen to this?

Tony Padilla: I think the asshole answer is you put the headphones on, the cassette tape in, and you press play.

I just laughed when Tony said that.

Clay Jensen: That is the asshole answer, isn't it?

Ricky Santiago: Yeah, but it's true.

Clay Jensen: I can't... be here. I can't listen here. (Sighs) I need you to drive.

Ricky Santiago: Where do you want to go?

Clay Jensen: Just... anywhere. Somewhere else.

Tony agrees as we now head for his Mustang.

Ricky Santiago: Shotgun!

Tony Padilla: Backseat, Rick.

Ricky Santiago: But I called shotgun.

Tony Padilla: Clay needs to ride shotgun.

Ricky Santiago: (Sighs) Fine. Backseat.

We get in the Mustang as Tony starts up his car and drives off. Clay is putting his headphones on as I make a suggestion.

Ricky Santiago: Hey, wait. Wouldn't it be better if we listen to it on the car stereo?

Tony Padilla: Ricky!

Ricky Santiago: I want hear it, too.

Clay Jensen: Without hearing the 1st 10?

Ricky Santiago: I already knows what happened.

Clay Jensen: But you don't exactly know what she says.

Tony Padilla: Ricky, Clay needs to listen to this on his own.

Ricky Santiago: Fine. But I want a play by play.

Clay Jensen: Fine.

Clay presses Play on the walkman and begins listening to his tape. As he is listening, he tells me that it still takes place at Jessica's party. That night again.

2 Months Ago:

Jeff arrives to my house as he honks his car.

Ricky Santiago: Mami, Jeff's here. I'm leaving now.

Bianca Santiago: Ok, take care. Don't do anything stupid.

Ricky Santiago: No guarantees. Bye

I leave my house and I hop on Jeff's car.

Ricky Santiago: Where's Leah?

Jeff Atkins: Under the weather.

Ricky Santiago: Ohhhh, that sucks.

Jeff Atkins: You ready?

Jeff stepped on it and we're off to Jessica Davis' house for her back to school party. We get there and the party is already going. We both enter the house and I announce our arrival.
