After we had come to the decision to keep going, we spent the next fifteen minutes discussing the terms of this contract.
When we had finished, we rang the bell. In the blink of an eye, the Dark One had returned.
"So you've decided," she said, sitting down.
"Yes," I replied, looking at her directly in the eye, "my terms are this. You can not endanger my family, friends, retainers or servants, my kingdom, or its people. This would include its land or resources. And, once this business has concluded, you will take my wife and Marina back to the kingdom," I said resolutely.
"I see," the Dark One, "not going to negotiate for your life?" She said with a smile.
My body reflexively tensed, "My life is but a small price for the safety of those i care for and am charged to protect," I replied, staring directly at her.
She chuckled for a moment before continuing, "Be at ease, I dont wish for anything like your life. What good would a dead king and a hostile nation be when I could have an ally or the very least an associate," she said with a smile.
