A/N: thelightgod1103 I had more ideas after reading a couple of your comments. Again, hope you don't mind.

"I should get going," I said, standing up.

"Hold on," Odessa said, standing up with me. "Where are ya stayin'?"

"I have a tent that I made from the hospital gown."

"Resourceful, but it won't keep ya safe from the sandstorms."

"Sandstorms?"

"Yeah. Nasty weather patterns that are unpredictable and will came at ya when ya least expect it. Not to mention, a hospital gown ain't gonna protect ya from the elements. The desert gets dangerously cold. Ya've done a lot for my family. I'm sure the least we can do is offer ya a place to stay 'ere."

"Does your mother mind?"

"Not at all!" her mother called from a different room.

"That settles it," Odessa said.

"I can't intrude," I said. "Even if I did help your family in more ways than one, I can't."

"We're not askin'," Odessa said, walking towards me. "We're lettin' ya. We want ya to be safe from the elements out there. Not to mention the nasty people that are out there, too. And once they figure out what kind of powers you're capable of, they will go great lengths to get ya on their side."

"I can always just throw some junk at them."

"That's a possibility, but out 'ere, the thing that is your most valuable weapon are your wits and your fists," Odessa lifted hers up. "Got me out of a few binds that I didn't like. But aye, if ya want to freeze your ass off out there and deal with sand in your eyes every mornin', be my guest."

Odessa walked towards the door. I stood there, thinking about this. On the one hand, I could learn more about her as I know nothing. Then again, I shouldn't get attached to someone who I just met recently and I shouldn't trust them. Maybe she was just telling me that to sway my decision to stay here so that when I let my guard down, she can slit my throat. But why would she? I had given her medicine for her sister and gave her a chance at surviving what kind of illness she has.

"Aye!" Odessa called. "Ya comin' or not."

"Where would I be staying?" I asked.

Odessa smiled and walked towards me once more, "You'll be with me. The rooms 'ere are pretty small, but my mother gave me the biggest one."

"Why's that?"

"Let's just say," she said.

"Dez!" another voice was heard.

Coming from the other side of the house, rushing in was a young boy who had a huge smile on his face. He ran up to Odessa and hugged her. He looked to be about twelve and was already at the height of her abdomen.

"Aye, there ya are. How have ya been?" she asked, hugging the boy and ruffling his head. "Not been out there causin' trouble have ya?"

"If ya mean by trouble, then I've been roughin' some guys up."

She laughed, "You're my brother after all."

"You have a brother and a sister?"

"I had five siblings. Three of 'em are no longer with us. The same with my father."

"How did they die?"

"Illness. Similar to my sister who has a better chance, thanks to you."

"I was just thinking back on what you said."
