A/N: Since this is not going to have the traditional POV, the reader is going to be addressed as mum. It will make sense when it is read.
I never really believed much in love. Not after my first heart break with someone very close to me. Mama wanted to "talk" to my ex while mum was more on the logical side of this, trying to get her to calm down. I was grateful they wanted to assist anyway that they could, but this is the price of being the Queen's daughter. The reason my ex had a relationship with me in the first place was because they were trying to get close to the Queen since their father was in bad water with her. Once mama found out that out, she definitely wanted to have some words with them. Of course, mum talked her out of it.
"Ya feelin' alright, Miracle?" mum asked me.
"No," I let out.
She let out a sigh as she ran a hand through my short hair, "I wish I could do somethin' to help ya. But your ex was a good for nothin' rat."
I let out a breath that sounded like a laugh, "Ya got that right."
"It happens, Miracle. Arguments, disagreements, it all happens in life."
"When you and mama were datin'?"
"Yeah?"
"Did you ever have any of that?"
"Yes. More often than ya thought. I love your mama though. I always will. No matter how much she angers me," she chuckled. "Like right now."
"What did she do now?"
"Bein' 'er stubborn self. Of course we're goin' to talk about it later tonight, but it's life, Miracle. It's how relationships work."
The door opened up to the house and mama walked into my room, doing a bit of a silly dance.
"'Don't ya want me, baby? Don't you want me, oh?'"
Mum started to laugh as mama walked towards her, a wide smile on both of their faces.
"There's that smile I love," mama said and pressed a kiss to mum's forehead.
"Doesn't mean you're off the hook."
"I know, I know. G'day, kiddo," mama said and kissed my head.
"Hi, mama."
"Say, why don't we do this," she sat down beside me. "Your mum and I oughta take ya out, ya know. Raise your spirits, lift ya up. Get ya out of this gloomy room."
"Mama," I said, trying to hide my smile.
"And get ya out of the house. I know you're still heart broken, truly, I do. But, and pardon my French 'ere, your ex was a fuckin' asshole."
I nodded my head, "I know, mama."
"It's kind of late," mum said.
"I didn't mean tonight. Besides, you and I still need to talk."
"Yes, we do."
"Anyway, sound alright to you, Miracle?"
"Yes. I'd love that."
"Atta girl," mama smiled and kissed my forehead.
"Alright, love, shall we?"
Mum kissed my head before walking out of the room and into their bedroom. The door closed but I sat up and made my way towards the bedroom door. I didn't mean to eavesdrop, but how can you not when living in such a small space.
"I am sorry about earlier. I know I should have been there when ya needed me. But ya know how things are," mama said.
"I know, Dez," mum said. "I-I just thought," there was a sigh.
The door opened slightly and I peeked in through the crack. The two of them were sitting beside one another on the bed. Mama's arm was wrapped around mum's waist.
"Aye, love," mama said. "I know ya needed me this mornin'. And I'm sorry for runnin' out on ya like that. Things are gettin' pretty busy for the both of us and with Miracle's breakup, I-I just got so stressed that I needed a minute away from the both of ya. Before I said somethin' I would regret."
Mum leaned into mama's shoulder, "I'm sorry, Odessa."
Mama leaned towards mum and pressed a kiss to her head, "All is forgiven, love."
"I forgive you, too."
Mama smiled and they both fell back onto the bed, holding one another. Mum picked her head up and looked into mama's eyes before they came together, kissing one another. I turned away, but I smiled. Everything in that moment meant so much to both of them. That was something I wanted in a relationship. Their communication, their ability to forgive one another, to move on and be better. To understand the other's side of the story. I remember moments where I could just feel their love for one another.
Mum was making breakfast and mama came in, giving her a morning kiss before wrapping her arms around mum's waist. How they'd sway to imaginary music at night when they didn't think I was looking. To when mama came home with live flowers for mum. They planned date nights together, in which both of them took turns planning on what they were going to do. It was just something about their bond that was extraordinary. I had never seen anything like it.
"How do ya do it, mum?" I asked her the morning after their talk.
"Do what?" she turned and faced me.
"Have such a great relationship with mama?"
"Well, before we became a couple, we were really close friends. She'd flirt with me 'ere and there and I'd try to flirt back. She was just a great woman with such a wonderful personality."
"When did ya two meet?"
"When we were about thirteen I think. We've been the best of friends since."
"What was your worst argument?"
"'er and I were tryin' to get back into Junkertown since we were banished by Mason Howl. I told 'er I had no way of gettin' back at him. It went into a bit of a heated argument. I was mostly talkin', but after I stormed off, she disappeared for about a year. When she returned, I was grateful she was alive, but I just yelled at 'er. I smacked 'er, too."
"And I can still feel that," mama walked into the kitchen.
"Mornin', gorgeous," mum said and kissed mama.
"Hello, beautiful."
"Really, guys?" I asked.
"What? Ya don't like this?"
Mama took mum's hand and spun her around before dipping her down towards the ground, pressing kisses to her face before her lips.
"Gross," I gagged, turning away.
Both of them laughed as they continued to do that. But, I hid my smile. I hid the fact that I wanted what they had. The deep love they had for one another. I want to be loved like how my mothers love one another.
