Forever Fall

Night was beginning to fall and Abinus and Nate were sitting in their dorm, Abinus sitting on his bed reading with his hood down and Nate playing a game on his Scroll. It didn't mater anymore if Abinus had his hood down in their dorm anymore.

"Hey, Abinus, have you seen Jaune anytime recently?" Nate asked. Abinus looked up from his book for a moment. "In class, yeah, but other than that I haven't seen him around."

Abinus went back to his book and turned the page. "He's more distant. We haven't been able to to talk to him much, even right after class." Nate said. Abinus sighed and closed his book.

"You're right, he is more distant. Ever since the one day that we got into the discussion about Cardin bullying him he's just been... out of it." he said, putting his book on his nightstand.

"Well, I'm gonna go get out of my combat gear. Be back in a few." Nate said, closing his Scroll and standing up. Abinus nodded and started to remove his armor himself.

The next day, Glynda was leading teams RWBY, JNPR, AN, and CRDL through a forest bustling with red leaves and grey trunks.

"Yes, students, the forest of Forever Fall is indeed beautiful. But we are not here to sight-see. Professor Peach has asked all of you to collect samples from the trees deep inside this forest, and I'm here to make sure none of you die while doing so." Glynda said.

The group stopped and Glynda help up a jar with a red liquid inside. "Each of you is to gather one jar's worth of red sap. However, this forest if full of the creatures of Grimm, so be sure to stay by your teammates. We will rendezvous back here at 4 o'clock. Have fun!" the Professor said.

Abinus and Nate went off towards one of the deeper parts of the forest. Abinus found a tree that had a little bit of sap flowing down the outside. He took out his sword and made a small cut in the tree, making more sap flow out and more quickly.

He put his jar underneath it as he put his sword on the ground. Nate had adopted a similar strategy, only using one of his crossbow's arrows to make the cut into the tree.

Teams RWBY and JNPR, although without Jaune, had come nearby to gather their own sap. The two boys waited for their jars to fill before capping them off and putting them away.

"That wasn't too hard!" Nate said. "Yeah. I was expecting to see at least a few Grimm by now." Abinus said. There was a roar that echoed through the forest.

"Did you guys hear that?" Ruby asked. Suddenly, almost all the members of Team CRDL came running past the group, although one ran into Yang while crying, "Ursa! Ursa!"

"What?!" Yang said, picking the guy up by his shirt. "Where?" The boy struggled, still running in the air, but he pointed back to where him and his friends had come from.

"Back there! It's got Cardin!" he said. Pyrrha dropped her jar of sap. "Jaune!" she said. "Yang! You and Blake, go get Professor Goodwitch!" Ruby said.

Yang dropped the guy and nodded along with Blake before running to go get their professor. Pyrrha turned to her teammates. "You two, go with them! There could be more!" she said as her and Ruby activated their weapons.

"Nate, with them! We've got it covered!" Abinus said as he drew his sword. Nate nodded before running off with Ren and Nora. Abinus, Ruby, Weiss and Pyrrha ran towards where the roar had come from.

The four ran up just as Cardin was trying to run from the Ursa that was chasing him, but it leapt over its prey and clawed him away. "Oh no!" Pyrrha said.

They watched as the Ursa leaned over Cardin, raising its paw and swiping it down only for it to be blocked by Jaune's shield. He struggled to defend a stunned Cardin and Weiss lifted her sword to go help.

"Wait!" Pyrrha said to Weiss, stopping her. Jaune took the shield out from under the Ursa's paw and slashed at its stomach, causing it to lash out and try to crush him.

He rolled out of the way and jumped over a swipe at his feet, but he was unprepared for it launching a claw at him midair. He landed farther away, but was immediately back up on his feet and charging at the Ursa again.

The Ursa knocked Jaune behind it when he tried for a leaping attack before getting back up and starting the run at the Ursa, the Ursa charging him as well.

Just as they were about to clash, Pyrrha lifted her hand, a dark red glow surrounding her arm. Just as the Ursa was about to hit Jaune, the same glow around Pyrrha's arm surrounded Jaune's shield, blocking the swipe.

Jaune used the sudden defense to push his shield back up and slash his blade right through the Ursa's neck, making its head and body fall to the forest floor.

Pyrrha lowered her hand as it stopped glowing with a smile. "Uhhh... What?" Ruby asked. "How did you...?" Weiss said, equally amazed.

"Well, Ruby has her speed, you have your glyphs. My Semblance is polarity." Pyrrha said. "Whoa, you can control poles..." Ruby said.

"No. She's saying she has control over magnetism." Abinus said. "Magnets are cool, too..." Ruby said. Pyrrha started to leave. "Wait, where are you going?" Weiss asked.

"Yeah! We gotta tell them what happened!" Ruby said. "We could... Or perhaps we could keep it our little secret?" Pyrrha said. She walked away as Ruby and Weiss smiled at each other in understanding before them and Abinus left to follow Pyrrha.

It'd been about a week since everything in the forest of Forever Fall and Abinus was in his dorm, sitting on his bed reading. Nate was out with Team RWBY so Abinus was alone.

His hood was down, as it wouldn't matter if Nate walked in. Abinus heard the door unlock and looked up as the door opened. What he wasn't expecting was to see Ruby in the doorway.

"Hey Abinus! I wanted to talk to..." Ruby trailed off as she saw Abinus' eyes. "Okay, I know what you're thinking, this is-" Abinus got cut off. "Awesome! That's so cool that you're the Black-Eyed Beast! I thought it was just a legend." Ruby said.

Abinus set his book down on his bed, stunned by Ruby's reaction. "Ruby, how'd you unlock the door?" he asked. "Oh, Nate gave me his Scroll so I could come and get you." Ruby said.

Abinus sighed. "Where is he?" he asked as he got up. "He's in my team's dorm." Ruby said. "You wanted to bring me down there anyway, right?" Abinus said.

"Yeah." Ruby said. "Alright, let's go." Abinus said, putting his hood up. "And don't tell anyone about what you saw. Nate knows, but I don't want this to spread." "My lips are sealed!" Ruby said, handing Abinus Nate's Scroll.
