Chapter Fifteen: Only When It Happens To You

Lottie's Point Of View

I smiled at the toast. It was the morning after the night before, and merlin did I feel fabulous. Alex and I were sitting at the Gryffindor table. Alex had being recently getting up around six to get down to the hall and read the Daily Prophet first. In a rush and dazed relay, I had managed to tell Alex the events of last night. The memories gave me butterflies, and I began to wonder how much I really was in for it. Same goes, when you tell your best friend how your night went, they have to tell theirs too, "YOU'RE GOING TO THE BALL WITH FRED! YOU'RE GOING TO THE BALL WITH FRED!" I chanted at Alex. Not many other people were around, so I classed myself as free to chant,

"And you and Georgie had a lickle kissy wissy wooooooo." She stuck her tongue out and smiled,

"I knooooow..." I sighed contently. Alex grinned, then looked back at her paper, "YOU'RE GOING TO THE BALL WITH FREEEED!"

"Oh Lot, do get over yourself." Alex said, turning the page on the Daily Prophet, "It's only Fred. It's only a ball."

"But it's a Yule Ball!" I defended,

"Yeah yeah. Christmas, mistletoe, presents, yadda." Alex said, gaze not raising from the paper, "Whatever."

"Come on Alex, lighten up. You might even have some fun."

"I might even have some fun in Potions too."

"Alex!"

"What?"

"Alex it's blue!"

"Ok chill."

"ALEX!"

"Alright!" She said, slamming down the paper she still happened to be reading in a sarcastic way. She got up slowly from her seat, and peered into the cauldron,

"Alex it's--"

"Chill." She said. Alex took the ladle from my hand and stirred the potion three times. It gave a puff of white smoke. She peered into it again, "See?"

"What did--" I looked in, and the potion was orange. It was supposed to be orange, "How did yo--"

"Chill." Alex said, again picking up the paper and beginning to read it again. I stared at her,

"But what if--"

"Just don't tell Snape." Alex said casually, "It doesn't matter whether you did it right or wrong. It looks good, it smells right. He isn't gonna know if you did that wrong! You meant for that to happen. Chill." She turned to the next page of her paper,

"Chill." I nervously sighed and sat down on a stool staring at the potion. How is she getting away with reading that paper? "Chill ... chill ..."

I was reading in front of the fire in the common room later that evening, Alex and Fred were still eating and wherever the rest of the population of Hogwarts were, it definatly wasn't here. That was at least, until I heard someone walked down the dorm stairs, and I turned to see the culpret, "All alone?"
