Chapter Twenty Four: And So It Begins

Lottie's Point of View

"Lottie, just let go." George told me. I was sitting on one of the ledges of the Hogwarts bridge, my legs dangling over the edge. George had his arms wrapped around my waist and was holding the beams of the bridge securely, I know that. But I was holding them securely too, "I promise you I have got you."

"I don't want to ... fall." I stammered. I think I am fast developing a fear of heights from this,

"Just let go." George insisted. I sighed deeply. Slowly, ever so slowly, my grip loosened a little each second until I had let go. I held my palms flat, a few centimetres away so I could easily grab them if need be. It was an amazing feeling, like I was flying,

"Don't drop her now will you Georgie?" I heard Alex warn,

"He's doing fine, leave him alone." I said slowly and kept my gaze focused forward,

"Coming back?" George asked. I nodded quickly, grasped back onto the beams and George brought me back the right side, "See? Wasn't so bad was it?"

"I guess not." I mumbled as we walked into the courtyard,

"WHAT?!"

"MISS TONKS! Don't yell!"

"I won't if you don't, Miss!" Alex called over to McGonagall. She gave Alex a stern look, but a tiny smirk also appeared on her face,

"Harry!" I shouted to him, seconds before I collided into him,

"Might of done well to give me a few extra seconds warning next time, eh Lot?"

"You're such a pest!" I told him, wrapping my arms tightly around him,

"That was uncalled for." Harry laughed, hugging me back. After a few seconds, I let go and smacked the back of his head lightly,

"Go on! Find your own friends!" I grinned. He gave me a look of disbelief, then chuckled and ran off towards Ron and Hermione,

"I think that maybe putting you on a leash would be better for us." Alex told me. I rolled my eyes,

"You know, I liked you better when you kept sneezing." I laughed,

"Anyone would think you guys actually thought I was annoying." Alex said, climbing onto one of the bridge sections that overlooked the courtyard, bringing her left leg up and leaning on her knee with her chin. I looked over to see Ron doing the same,

"Who could imagine such a thing like that?" I grinned, pulling myself up next to her, putting my foot on George's knee as he stood in front of me and lent his foot on a rock, and his elbow on his knee. Fred was leaning against the bridge's extra structure, the other side of Alex,

"What's the plan then?" Fred asked,

"The plan?"

"For next year." George told me like it was suppose to be obvious. Alex and I looked at each other, then I shrugged,

"I think next year is going to be a year where the four most feared students at Hogwarts finally prove just how feared they should be." Alex nodded, "Foul mouths and all."

"Anyone can be foul mouthed Alex." I rolled my eyes,

"No one can be Alex foul mouthed." She grinned,

"Everything is really going to change now? Isn't it?" I sighed. The twins looked at each other,

"Yes." George said, and rubbed my hand,

"What's life without a few setbacks though, eh?" Fred followed. His and Alex's gaze collided, and I couldn't help but grin. George squeezed my hand. He'd seen them too.

"Guys no!" I called out a second too late. A series of loud explosions and bright reactions from the various curses and jinxes Fred, George and Alex just threw at Malfoy, Crabbe and Goyle who they'd being spying on sounded through the train carriage. I hurried from the sweet trolley, picking up the ends of my Gryffindor robe I was still wearing, and sprinted down the train, jumping over various breeds of cats, types of toads and sizes of children on my way back to them,

"That probably shouldn't of happened." I heard Alex say worriedly as they approached the three,

"No shit you dumb ... prats!" I shouted, breathing rapidly from my recent hurdle race, "Now ... what are you going to do with three ... THREE ... unconscious people?"

"Move them." Alex shrugged. Fred popped his head into a compartment,

"Interesting effect." George nodded, going into the compartment along side Fred, "Who threw the Furnunculus curse?"

"Me."

"YOU!" I yelled, going in after George as soon as I recognised Harry's voice,

"Awesome!" Alex cheered, strolling in the compartment and high fiving a bemused Harry,

"I used Jelly-Legs. Seems those two shouldn't of being mixed, considering the little tentacles that sprouted on his face!"

"Mind you, best get them moved eh?" Alex asked,

"Suppose so." Fred nodded,

"They don't do much for the decor." George said,

"Go on, you two!" I rolled my eyes then ushered Ron and Harry up and out of the compartment,

"Was that a plan?" Alex said as she sat in Ron's seat next to the window,

"Not much." I laughed, sitting in Harry's seat opposite her and next to Hermione,

"Are you two worried? About next year?" Hermione asked Alex and I nervously from over the top of her book,

"She is." Alex pointed me. I rolled my eyes,

"I have to have my moments."

"But like Fred told her, what's life without a few setbacks?"

"Well, come on Al. We're like ... Hogwarts outlaws." I nodded, "Setbacks are just going to be like bacon sandwiches for us."

"Don't last long, but are just ... amazingly delicious." Alex nodded, then seemed to be drifting into another land that was probably full of bacon,

"Something like that." I grinned. Harry, Ron, Fred and George then crammed themselves into the compartment. I ended up moving to the other side, and we sat in the order of me beside the window, then George, then Fred and finally Alex. Hermione shuffled herself against the window opposite me, then Ron sat next to her and Harry next to him. Once Ron had stopped jiggling about trying to get an optimum seating position, Alex pushed the door to the compartment shut, with too much force as usual. My signature eye roll made an appearance again,

"Exploding snap anyone?" Fred asked, pulling a pack from his pocket,

"Exploding what?" I asked. All the boys and Alex tutted and rolled their eyes. I gave them an innocent smile when they looked at me with looks of disbelief and disappointment and slowly I held my hands up. George shook his head, then showed me his hand of cards.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"SNAP! YES BITCHES!" I yelled in the compartment at the end of the fourth game. It took me one to watch, one to learn, one to practise and one to dominate. Fred fell back in his chair and looked outraged,

"I was gonna do that!" He whined,

"Shut up you big baby! Get them dealt again someone!" Alex ordered. Ron collected the cards up, shuffled then dished them out. We all collected our cards. Harry laid the first one down,

"Are you going to tell us then? Who you've being blackmailing?"

"You what?" Alex, Hermione and I said in unison. Fred fell back into his seat again and George rolled his eyes,

"You just had to bring that up didn't you?" He asked irritably,

"Blackmailing who?" Alex enquired, raising her eyebrows,

"Since when?" Hermione quizzed with a disapproving tone,

"What for?" I demanded darkly. The twins seemed to be looking from Harry to Ron to each other for support,

"Erm ... nothing guys." Fred uttered nervously,

"What?" Alex said plainly.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"I just don't ... even ..." I began, pulling the bottom of the red and white shirt I'd just changed into out of my black shorts, "I can't ... You two are just--"

"The most dashingly irresistible people you ever met?" Fred asked me,

"We know." George grinned. Him and Fred were matching grey knee length shorts, with the trainers I had bought them in my first year and matching colour t-shirts, which made Fred blue and George green ... right? I checked behind me and nodded to myself. Right. I then continued to tie my hair up as we got off the train onto Platform 9 3/4, then pulled the hairband tight as we climbed back on to retrieve our trunks. I jumped back off once more, proclaiming 'take two' and smiling brightly. The platform was busy, of course, with children and siblings and luggage and families and parents and relations and owls flying about everywhere. Eventually, George wobbled off the train with his and Fred's trunk. Fred followed, just as unsteady as his twin, with mine and Alex's,

"SURPRISE!" Someone yelled at me quickly. I spun around to slap them,

"Dad!" I squealed then became engulfed in a hug,

"You're not going to believe it, I am so bloody glad to see you!" Lupin said quickly and patted my back, "My god, you've grown haven't you?"

"You see me like, what, a month ago?" I questioned him. He chuckled,

"Memory's not what it used to be."

"LUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-PINO!" An italian sounding call came. Both Lupin and I looked towards the train and rolled our eyes. Alex was standing in the doorway, wearing teal crop trousers, a white t-shirt which had gold writing across it reading 'It's always funny until someone gets hurt, then its just hilarious' and her large, signature sunglasses. She jumped off the train and strode over to us,

"Al-EEEEX!"

"Gimmie some love Remus." She said, holding her hand for a high five. I noticed Fred and George were now standing behind me, almost collapsing. I held both of my hands out behind my back in case they were needed,

"Well I'm glad the four terrors are all home safe and okay." Lupin smiled and nodded, "Oh! Fred, George, your mother's just over there. Either run from her or to her, but you probably won't have much time to make a decision."

"Trying to kill us eh?" Fred asked,

"To or from, either way would do it!" George followed. Lupin had a smirk on, but shrugged innocently,

"You caught me."

"I'm not feeling the love Fred."

"Neither am I George."

"Ooooh!" Alex exclaimed, then began whispering in Lupin's ear. Behind my back I crossed my fingers. Lupin's eyes lit up, and he nodded at Alex, "Won't be loooong!" She called before skipping off into the crowd,

"I'll go ... with her! Nice to see you Lupin!" Fred then ran off after Alex. I kept my fingers tightly crossed behind my back. Lupin looked at George for a moment with a most unreadable expression, then his face broke into a beam and Lupin held out his hand,

"Well done mate. Bravo." He said proudly. My fingers broke out of their cross. George shook Lupin's hand and smiled, "I wouldn't be satisfied if it was anyone that wasn't you."

"Dad, don't embarrass him." I warned him lightly, "Or me."

"Now you need not worry kids! Because you two are superstars in our eyes! We support you more than the Quidditch teams! Thats how big of a hit you are!"

"Kinda glad I asked now." George grinned proudly to himself. My mouth gaped open. George quickly realised, and laced his fingers with mine,

"Kinda?" I asked, acting completely mortified when I was only slightly,

"He's only joking! Give the kid a chance!" Lupin laughed,

"GEORGE WEASLEY!"

"Oh dear."

"HOW DARE YOU NOT INFORM ME!"

"Double oh dear." George managed to utter, before Mrs Weasley was straight in front of him dragging him into a crushing hug. I grinned for him since he couldn't through the pain. Lupin put his arm around my shoulders,

"It certainly wasn't ... me." Alex confirmed, standing at my side,

"Never is." I rolled my eyes again, the same time as the rest of the Weasley's at the platform (Ron, Ginny and Mr Weasley) joined us. I smiled to myself as Mrs Weasley let go off her son and looked to me, tears welling in her eyes. It was impossible not to feel the love that was radiating off of her right now,

"Fred! George!" Someone called across the platform. Across Mrs Weasley's shoulder, I saw Harry making his way towards us. The twins rushed to meet him, and I gave Mrs Weasley a small squeeze before pulling away,

"You get more beautiful every time I see you!"

"And your hugs get even tighter!" I joked, causing the circle to laugh aloud,

"WOTCHER NYMPHIE!" Alex bellowed across the station, but felt to be right into my ear. There was a quiet crack, and Alex's sister Tonks had appeared behind us,

"Wotcher everyone!" She smiled kindly, "Lupin, I believe you might have lost your dog."

"Shit!" Lupin ran off into the platform. I sighed, shaking my head lightly,

"Typical." I muttered. The twins made their way back over to us, and Fred did a bad job at hiding the item Harry had just given them, stuffing it into his right short pocket as he approached us. He did however, do a good job at disguising it. I instantly made a mental note in order to remember about it later,

"Well we best be off I suppose." Tonks said to Alex. She nodded, then I opened my arms to her. She squinted her eyes and I hugged her anyway,

"I'll be seeing you Lottie." Alex proclaimed. I let go and Alex hadn't moved a muscle,

"Not if I see you first, nut case." I grinned. She then waved at all the Weasley's, but Fred wasn't satisfied. He tugged her arm and they walked off a little from our group. George and I stared furiously at them, wanting to get every little detail. It was rude but ... we do whatever we want. Fred straighted up and cleared his throat,

"Do write won't you, blue ball?" He asked. Alex nodded,

"Prick." She rolled her eyes. Fred then lent down quickly kissed her on the cheek. George and I struggled, but both let out tiny gasps. I clapped my hands together as Alex slowly walked back to us with Fred grinning on her tail. Alex's eyes went bright pink,

"W ... wel ... well bye." She stuttered to Fred. She then shook her head and grinned up to everyone, "Bye Weasleys! Bye Lottie!" Alex then yelled, putting her foot on her trunk and her hand in Tonks', giving the group one final wave before her and her sister apparated out of the platform,

"Well that's that bitches." Fred beamed proudly at George and I. He high fived George and I felt good for him, until Mrs Weasley smacked Fred on the side of the head. I noticed the other Weasley's had gone missing, then remembered Ron had run after Hermione as she was about to leave the platform and presumed that Mr Weasley and Ginny had gone out that way too,

"Got him!" Lupin called as he came over to us from around a corner, tugging a fairly large, shaggy black dog along on a navy colour lead. Mrs Weasley then hurried over to them saying 'Padfoot, how stupid could you be!' and left Fred, George and I standing,

"Hogwarts original terrors." Fred said. I was standing in between then twins and we all looked at each other, then linked hands and squeezed tightly,

"We'll be alright." George started,

"It's just a setback." Fred continued,

"And whats life without a little setback?" I nodded. We stared around the platform for what seemed forever, our hands slowly let go off each other,

"Alright mate?" Fred asked George. He must of nodded, because Fred just winked at me then walked off towards his mum, Lupin and Sirius. I turned to look at George,

"If you worry, even for a second, you write to me and I promise I will make everything better." George told me, holding out his little finger. I wrapped mine around his,

"That jobs already being done." I smiled. George then pulled us closer just by our pinkies, and kissed me gently on the lips.

Well if dark times lay ahead, I'm going to be needing a lot of emotional support and training this summer. Sounds like things are going to change, situations are going to turn and people are going to lose lives. And if Voldemort's back to kill H, I suppose H's sister is gonna be in the firing line too. But in that moment, anything could of happened and it couldn't of affected me at all.

George Weasley's lips were exactly where they needed to be. Right on Lottie Lupin's.
