"I yearn to belong to something, to be contained in an all-embracing mind that sees me as a single thing. I yearn to be held in the great hands of your heart—"

Joo-ik led Love to a store that was a few blocks away. A brief listen to his mind told her that he was planning to treat her to ramyun, sitting outside in the eating area, and basically getting a chance to cool off after that fiasco in the grocery store. She was going to allow herself to play along when she remembered that Ji-na and Dong-kyung were waiting for her and that she couldn't allow Doom and his ex-human to be around each other right now.

Love stopped in her tracks, making Joo-ik come to a sudden stop as well. He turned to look back at her confusion about what she was doing all of a sudden, and she let out a sigh through her nose.

"I can't go with you. Ji-na and Dong-kyung are expecting me, and my brother can't be around them, so I have to go now." She told him, speaking in a near-bored tone.

Joo-ik raised a brow at her words before suddenly walking back the way they came. Love was confused for all but a moment before she listened to his thoughts. Her eyes widened, and she quickly walked up next to him and looked at him like he was crazy.

"You are not coming with me. You're not." Love insisted, keeping pace with his long legs.

"Oh yeah? Then why am I thinking about going to my car and driving you to wherever you're going?" Joo-ik asked her with a small smirk on his face.

"Because for some reason you're attached to me as if we're glued at the hip, even though I've given you every reason to stay away from me." Love snapped at him with a prominent frown on her face.

This time it was Joo-ik stopping in his tracks and forcing Love to suddenly stop walking as well. At that moment, she turned to face him at the same time as he leaned closer, planting a soft yet alluring kiss on her lips. Love took in a breath through her nose, feeling herself heat up from her chest, and the sensation spread to the rest of her body, allowing herself to fall into the kiss, unaware that the nearby lampposts were lighting up due to her magic. When they parted, Love felt a slight tingle in her lips; the desire to lean up and kiss him again was strong; her cheeks were warm; and she quickly looked down at her white heels to avoid Joo-ik's eyes.

"When I said don't send me away and that I wasn't afraid of you, I meant it." Joo-ik said, his voice gentle and comforting to her ears.

Love balled up her free hand into a fist, her knuckles protruding from the clenching. She took in a sharp breath through her nose before picking her head up and looking at him with a faux-untroubled look on her face.

"Fine then. If you're going to be so insistent, then I might as well entertain you. Don't blame me when you end up regretting tying yourself to me." She told him with a fake smile on her face.

She then walked past him, already knowing what his car looked like from his thoughts, now leading him like a dog, which the mortal seemed to not mind in the slightest. She felt Joo-ik squeeze her hand once more while silently walking by her side back to the car.
