Again a father's son did war
And all for love a kingdom tore
With armies raised that numbered few
He thought with aid of love that's true

Could overcome his sovereign's will
And love as Queen could help instill
But hopes were vain as armies found
In father's keep had great renown

And forces quickly overcame
The holds his son as fortress claimed
And man and love in chains were trudged
Before the king to be there judged

And father deigned his sons own death
Though man of heir would be bereft
But sudden Arnakali cries
And begs that she instead would die.

"My king I bid you grant me tomb
And make me not my Saalim's doom
Alone I stand the reason gave
You seek to place your heir in grave

If life I have to blade is grant
The reason gave is very scant
To end the life of heir you keep
For me alone he war did seek."

And Akbar hearing things she spoke
By strangest logic stood then smote
That maid was right no reason give
Would son yet have to war now bid

If woman's death that day was done
But also thing would punish son
Perhaps yet more than grave he planned
For how did man yet know the land

To which his heir away would fly
If by his blade he's bid to die
Perhaps a happier place would be
His prince instead of where he grieves

The death of love as king would bid
Thus Arnakali's wish he'd give.
So king did spare his fleshy part
To only better harm his heart.

And bid the girl be sealed in wall
He built inside a garden's sprawl.
And Arnakali stoic went
To go to grave to which she's sent

Not for the sake of maid herself
Instead to spare the feelings felt
Of love who's bid to watch her die
When far behind the stone she lies.

And stood while masons stones did lay
In front of girl to make her grave.
And Saalim cried his love to see
And just as planned the prince did grieve.

And prince did wander earth as bid
For many years on task he's give
As heir of king an envoy sent
To countries father son had lent.

Then came a day when sun was high
In wilder lands the man does lie
Bereft of will to onward go
Unto the place he's bid to bode

Instead his life to ebb desired
The man by birth decreed the sire
Some future day of Mughal's holds
And all their might and all their gold.

Despite the boons I've list above
It's all for not without his love.
Then man beheld a thing by chance
He saw by just the merest glance

A poem weathered well by age
On stone the prince had used for shade.
Which sang a song in sadness clad
That spoke of charms that Layla had...

And prince with sudden strength was filled
And heart of tempest sudden stilled
To home the heir would find his way
And claim his crown from kin some day.

Though armies held had long dispersed
And many allies name had cursed
He still this strongest help did find
The one that's gave by passing time.

For every king is overthrown
When laid in ground beneath a stone.
And when that day would come at length
By dint of time but also strength

Of patience give to long outlast
The man who death for love had tasked.
A tomb the man would make of wall
Inside that garden wide that sprawled

So name of love be long recalled
By dint of king's own written law.
