chapter nineteen;
a whole lot of tongue

James was still laughing when he landed by the pond, her broom following them, and he dismounted, but before she could even tell him to let her go, he threw her over his shoulder like she weighed nothing.

Both of them were panting, sweaty, and hot from the heat and exercise, ready to submerge themselves in the cool water of the pond, but James had a different idea, and apparently, it was throwing Amaya around like a ragdoll.

"Potter! Put me down!"

He was laughing so much she could feel it and then he started walking towards the pond. As soon as he stepped into the water, he announced, "I won!"

"Put me down you arsehole!"

"With pleasure!"

And she shrieked as she fell in the water feeling its coolness spread through her. She broke through the surface with a gasp and glared at him. James kept laughing, the water sloshing around his legs, whilst she was submerged until the waist.

She cursed him off as she took off her shorts beneath the water, and then threw them at his face, promptly shutting him up as he yelped probably when the metal button of the jean shorts hit him in the face.

"That was cheating," she informed him as she took off her shirt, and only when she did look at him, did she find him frowning slightly as he touched his brow. "James?"

James's eyes met hers and he laughed in amusement. "There were no rules."

"Still—Are you hurt?"

"Oh it's nothing," he said and took his hand off his brows, only to grimace slightly when he saw the blood on his hand, from the wound she could see on his brow.

Her lips parted and Amaya immediately rushed over to him. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you—"

"I said I'm fine, it's just a cut."

"You're bleeding."

"I'm fine, Maya—"

"Just sit down, okay? Let me heal you," she pleaded, her stomach churning at the sight of the wound she'd caused. And sure it wasn't a big deal, but at the same time, it was—at least for her.

He hesitated for a moment, and she noticed his eyes dip to her body. Color rushed to her face as she realized that before joining him where the water was lower she'd stripped down to her two-piece swimsuit. He quickly averted his eyes and nodded, "Yeah, alright."

With that, he walked over to the shore and sat down right when the ground dipped more drastically, allowing Amaya to stand in front of him in the water, her knees on the ground and the water sloshing around her waist as she stood between his knees; their faces at the same level.
