The Source

Part 22

Freen is a thief called The Artist and is the CEO of Tulip Enterprises. Becca is the captain of the Bangkok Police Department and is investigating The Artist. They met the night that Freen did her last robbery at an art gallery. A few days later, Freen is asked to steal The Cullinan Diamond, largest diamond in the world, which was located at Heidi Jensen's house, Freen's partner at the time. This would be her last robbery with The Source. Due to hosting a party for her brother, she had to ask Nate, her partner in crime, to steal it. Nate decided to leave a note stating it was The Artist that did the robbery which Freen had never done before and he also stole a painting from her home to avoid raising suspicions against her, but it backfired. The police found footage at both houses and Freen became their main suspect. Becca didn't want to believe Freen was involved so she decided to get to know her better first.

They went out on a date where Freen received a warning from The Origin that almost killed her and Becca. The Origin are drug dealers, part of The Source, the organization that coerced Freen into stealing art in order to hide her family secret. Freen's brother, Heng, owes money to The Origin. Because of him, Freen has to go back to working with The Source. Becca and Freen go out on another date. Nate calls her that night and says they have to steal from Nam's house, Freen's friend. Freen refuses and tells Nate to speak with The Founder, the one who created The Source. Becca takes Freen home to meet BonBon. Freen tries to kiss Becca, but the pup gets in the way which is where we left off.

Mela: The night wasn't over for these two ladies. No matter how many attempts Freen made to get closer to Becca, BonBon always got in the way, but that wasn't the only thing that would get in the way.

I swear this little cutie right here is doing it on purpose. Becca laughed.

He might be. He is trained to protect his owner. 

I thought you were the captain of the police department. You look invincible and seem fearless. Are you scared of little old me? Becca shook her head. 

Not at all. You're a lot like BonBon, no bite just bark. Freen scoffed. 

I am very offended by that. Just so you know I do bite. Freen leaned in closer to Becca and was met by the slobbering face of BonBon. See?! Becca chuckled and got off the couch. 

Alright. Come on BonBon. Time for bed. Becca turned on the TV in her room and made sure BonBon was comfortable. 

He really is your kid. What is he even watching? 

Paw Patrol of course. They laughed. 

Becca looked serious for a moment when she sat down again and faced Freen. 

Tell me something about you that no one else knows. 

I think I preferred when BonBon was here. It was less scary. She chuckled and noticed that Becca wasn't kidding. Hm ok. Only my close friends know this and the people who lived through it. Before coming here, I lived my whole life in Chiang Mai. It had been my home where I had my family and my two best friends. My family and I got along a lot better than we do now even if I was a headache. I had a crush on one of my best friends. I never got the chance to tell her though. 

Why? Because you had to move? Freen shook her head. 

She died. It was a hit and run. 

I am so sorry. 

Yeah, me too. She was only 18 and didn't even get a chance to really live her life. After the news, my family decided that it was best if we moved close to the university I was going to study at. I only went back to Chiang Mai once and it was for her funeral.
