The apartment was silent for a few moments. The only noise you could hear was the low sound of the TV coming from Becca's room. Becca had an internal battle between her duty as a cop and her feelings for the woman she now knows as the most wanted criminal in her police department.
Serve and protect. That's what cops do. At least the ones that aren't corrupt. Becca has always done what is right, no matter the cost, but this time she wasn't willing to lose the one person who finally made her feel love. She knows Freen is going to jail, but Becca is determined to do everything in her power to make sure it is for the least amount of time possible.
The idea of being locked up in a cell wasn't appealing to Freen, but she would finally be free of The Source and all the baggage she'd been carrying for years. She knew Heng and her friends would come to visit her, but eventually they would move on because life gets complicated. She had thought about helping the police put an end to The Origin because she didn't want anyone else to suffer the consequences of their business as her brother did. Other than that, she had no plans to avoid her fate.
Freen, I'm in love with you. Becca's internal conflict started to externalize. I know it's crazy because you just confessed to being the criminal that has been haunting my job for the past 5 years, but I couldn't help it. Becca scoffed and scratched the back of her head. For the first time in my life, I fall in love with somebody and it turns out she's a criminal. I swear karma is really kicking my ass. Becca looked at Freen who hadn't uttered a sound. You expect me to just put my feelings away and what? Watch you go to jail and move on? I can't do that. She sat down beside Freen and grabbed her hands. I love you, Freen. Can you love me? Can I be the one for you and not just another victim on your list?
Becca... Freen caressed her cheek and Becca leaned into the touch. I'm going to jail. She tried to say this as gently as she could, but Becca groaned exasperated and moved away. Their story was complicated. Freen didn't want to ruin Becca's reputation. I'm crazy about you too, but I won't ruin your life.
Who says you'll ruin it?!
Come on. The cop and the thief? Where have you heard a story like that with a happy ending other than Wattpad?
I don't care about what they think about me. I didn't fall in love with The Artist. I fell in love with Freen Sarocha Chankimha, a powerful, decided woman who's willing to do anything to get what she wants. That's who I want. I don't care about your criminal record. I mean I do because it will help me solve this case, but other than that it doesn't matter to me.
What about your friends and your family? What if they don't agree?
Since when is a relationship based on more than the people in it?
You get what I mean. Freen sighed. Look, I will probably be in jail for years. I don't want you to put your heart on hold until I get out. You can do so much better than me.
What happened to the confident woman that I've heard about so much? Freen shrugged.
Maybe she's just a facade for everyone to see. Freen lowered her head and looked down at her hands. Becca approached her.
Look at me. Freen attempted to move her face away, but Becca wouldn't let her. Sarocha Freen, look at me when I'm talking to you. Freen's eyes immediately opened. I love you. Do you hear me? I love you. Becca poured all of her feelings into this passionate kiss that caught Freen off guard at first. Becca wasn't about to let her pull away, not from the kiss and certainly not from her life. Freen leaned back on the couch once Becca straddled her. Becca moved her hair back and kissed from Freen's neck up to her ear. Let me show you how much I care about you. All Freen could do was nod in agreement. The passion and need they felt overwhelmed them.
