The Source

Part 4

Freen headed into her study and ordered her staff not to interrupt her at all. She had a fax from The Source. They always placed certain clues on the papers to let her know that it wasn't from the company. The message said this:

From: TS Management

To: Freen Sarocha Chankimha

Please contact us as soon as possible. There's a new pesticide we need your company to take care of. We will await your prompt response.

Pesticide meant a new mission. Freen wondered why the need for a mission so soon since they usually let things cool down for a while and then they proceeded to plan another robbery. She grabbed the prepaid cellphone that The Source had given her for internal communications. She dialed the only saved contact and after two rings she responded.

Founder: My dear Sarocha! How have you been? Did you celebrate another successful event last night?

Freen: I believe the one who was celebrating last night was yourself, Founder. I can't believe you sent that idiot to meet with me. The founder laughed.

Founder: It's because of your hate towards Leader that I sent him. I love how quickly he gets under your skin. Anyway, I wanted to talk to you about this new pesticide that we have to deal with. Nathaniel is already coming up with the plan and making the arrangements, but this one might be a bit more complicated for you and close to home.

Freen: What do you mean?

Founder: Your girlfriend's family has recently acquired the world's largest diamond, The Cullinan Diamond, and we believe that that will be the last thing you will need to acquire for us to be free of The Source once and for all. That is if you still want your complete freedom.

Freen: Are you being serious? Or is this another scheme like it was three years ago? As revenge for sleeping with her wife The Founder had sent Freen on a wild goose chase for a treasure that didn't even exist.

That mission almost exposed Freen's real identity to the world and caused her stepbrother to be scarred for life literally. While Freen got locked in a bobby trap of The Founder's making her stepbrother was being tortured that night, but Freen didn't know it. Any time she did something wrong and set off a trap causing the room she was locked in to be filled up with water, her brother would receive cuts and punches all over his body. He almost died that night and so did Freen. The key that opened the door to exit that room was placed under a heavy crate which was almost impossible to lift underwater, but Freen was able to do it. As she coughed up water once the door flew open, The Founder walked slowly towards her, hands behind her back. She lifted Freen's chin making her look straight into her eyes.

Founder: If you so much as look at my wife again, I will make sure you and your stepbrother pay the price. Freen didn't understand why her stepbrother was involved. She found out months later that a particular group of people called The Origin had made deals with her stepbrother. To give him unlimited amounts of illegal drugs for his parties, he kept their business afloat with money, but he had failed to pay for the past three months.

The Origin was linked to The Source. They were a part of the organization. All the profits that they gained were to help themselves and the poor. The drugs were only given to the rich. The founder had killed enough people to make a statement that none of the drugs would be consumed by the poor or any of them.

The news had made hundreds of reports of The Origin, but none had ever heard of The Source and The Founder wanted to keep it that way. Even though they dealt with drugs and stolen artifacts, she wanted the image of The Source to be intact. Their purpose was to help themselves and those with less money than they had. There was only 20% of poverty left in Thailand. Little by little with small donations here and there, establishing their clinics with doctors and taking care of their community The Source was turning Thailand into a haven for everyone except the rich.
