"Leave me alone" - Luca 🖤
"That was the corniest shit ever," Carter quipped lying on Lucas' bed. It was the next day and he was giving Carter the wrap on what happened.
Luca rolled his eyes
"So are you gonna ask her out?" Carter continues
" I'm not asking anyone out," Luca furrowed his brows, looking up from his Lego set.
"Aye dios mio, are you still pretending that you don't like her?" Carter turned around, tossing his game controller.
"We both know she doesn't have feelings for me."
"So, if she did like you would you ask her out?' Carter smirked
Luca didn't even have to think about it this to know the answer
"Ugh, fuck you," Luca conceded earning another smile from Carter
"Not my fault you're so damn obvious," Carter shrugged dramatically
"Fuck off, I'm not." Luca rebutted
Carter gave him a "be for real" face
"You're literally a walking trope, you treat everyone but her like shit."
"I don't treat Al-" Luca started before being cut off
"Me like shit, I know, but I'm your bestie westie so I don't count," Carter stated matter-of-factly
"Yea, exactly," Luca rolled his eyes
"Either way, Shortcake's nice, there's no reason to be an asshole," Luca added
"Even the nickname, you're so obvious gringo," Carter teased
"You know you're half white right?" Luca raised a brow while Carter gave him a look of betrayal
"Cállate," Carter replied with the middle finger
A moment of silence passed
"So... are we gonna talk about what happened at the party?" Luca asked
"I guess," Carter conceded
High schoolers participating in hard drugs and questionable substances was normal where they're from but for Carter, it was a little different. Growing up his parents were separated with his mom living in her hometown in Argentina. His dad was an alcoholic and made Carter's adolescence pretty rough, especially with him being the youngest. Because of this, Carter never did any substances so hearing that he drank alcohol, much less was pretty drunk was a little alarming to Luca.
All he knew was that when he took Melody home, Hazel was taking him and Jack home.

Monday came around and while Luca would rather be anywhere else, at least he had class with Melody. He made his way to his seat and was unsurprised to see her reading.
"Hey," Luca greeted
"Hi," she replied putting the book down. She kind of just stared at him, making him furrow his eyebrows
"Is my beauty entrancing you yet?" he gloated
"Shut up, you just got something on your face," Melody quipped going into her book bag
Luca looked into his phone camera and sure enough, he had nothing on his face
"I can't believe you lied to me," he huffed, his monotone voice failing to sound offended
"I guess I'll just keep this gift card to myself." he shrugged catching the girl's attention
"What's the card for?" she squinted at him
"It's for that bakery in the plaza that you're always talking about."
"The eco-friendly one?" Luca nodded
He pulled out the card and eyed Melody
"I know you don't like sweets," she quipped
"Now I do," Luca shrugged
Before they could continue, the teacher started the class. Thanksgiving break was approaching so teachers were starting to close units and finalize grades. Before the class ended, Melody was talking with some of the basketball guys and Luca found himself in the middle of their conversation.
"How bout you, white boy?" this one guy asked. Luca only remembered him because of his signature dark ginger fro
"Hmm?" Luca picked his head out of his arms
"You both keep to yourselves when you could probably bag like crazy if you wanted to," he explained
Luca shrugged
"What's your reason?" he nudged Melody
"First of all, I don't get who I'm able to 'bag' anyways." she huffed
All the boys looked at each other, including Luca
"Now girl.." one of the basketball players girlfriends replied
"You're pretty popular with the girls," she added
"For real?" Melody asked
"Yeah, you're cuter than you think girl. You too Luca, the basketball girls love ya'll, especially the underclassmen."
Melody and Luca look at each other in slight surprise.
"I'm flattered?" Melody laughed "Underclass though..." Luca nodded his head in silent agreement
The girl shrugged "I'm just the messenger

Transitioning to his next class, Luca could see the girl he'd been trying to avoid. As he went for a U-turn he heard Valerie call his name, still, he kept walking.
"Luca, cmon, I know you can hear me," she whined
"What," he turned around
"Okay what I did at that party was kinda fucked up I know," he gave her a blank stare
"And you still did it..."
"Yea, I know, I'm sorry Luca."
"And who did you say the fucked up shit to?" Luca asked sarcastically
"That new girl you're friends with." Valerie twiddled her thumbs
"So why are apologizing to me?" Luca squinted, growing tired by the second
Valeries' mouth was agape for several seconds.
"Look I'm learning to be nice so I'm going to walk away and you're not going to follow me," Luca stated before turning around, heading to his next glass
'God fucking damn' he thought rolling his eyes
