Unlucky woman

Nia POV

I didn't sleep a wink after the incident there were too many suspicious people walking around the cobblestone road during the early morning hours . So I stayed up and sat at the bus stop until the sun was overhead

My butt was aching too much from sitting down too much so I decided to walk about this city that would be my home for i don't know weeks ? Months ? Years ?

***

The area I was in was known as Venice it had such a homey feel to it . Each house was painted in different ways .  Each cafe i passed by was rooted in culture , in family , in life . Greenery littered the walls of each cafe .

I strolled aimlessly down the pathways but I couldn't help but notice that there was barely anyone who looked like me and if there was they were on vacation they wouldn't be for long anyways

I did notice all the people who would tightly hold onto their purses when I passed by . Or move their children to the other side of the road as if I would harm them .

Little did they know I got robbed by white men last night and wouldn't even hurt them intentionally

I'd never understand this logic that the colour of someone's skin made them more ... dangerous? Or was it somewhat better to get robbed by someone your own race ?

Forcing those thoughts out of my mind  I continued to walk down the streets with my duffel slung over my shoulder clasping the handles tightly into fists

I walked by the river side until my stomach was beginning to digest it's self groaning out from the lack of food in it

I walked deeper into the villages until I came across a cafe with the plants growing into the walls . Decor of red sat on the wooden tables .

This would be a romantic place if I still cared for love

I sat down waiting to be attended to when a black women with waves gelled to her head and dark skin that was 2 shades lighter then her pitch black hair ,  approached me wearing a white dress shirt and a red pleated skirt
