Lea Evans is pure light.
Born on June 19, just before the summer solstice, in New York. Her mother Lydia always dreamed of becoming a Broadway singer and was well on her way until she met someone. With his wavy blond hair and sky-blue eyes, no one could resist him, and when the god heard Lydia's voice, he felt the same way.
When Lea was born, Lydia knew her dream could no longer come true, and when her lover disappeared, she didn't know what to do. So she returned to her hometown Washington, D.C. and worked as a waitress. In her anger and frustration, she was not a good mother. During the day she worked, and at night she was usually in bars singing for a few pennies.
Growing up, Lea didn't really know her mother. She only saw her sometimes between her shifts, where she only got cold looks. When Lea was 5 years old, her mother started bringing her lovers home. That was the last sign for the daughter of the sun, and she ran.
She spent weeks in the subway tunnels of Washington, living off the money she begged and hiding from creatures that no one saw but her.
When she saw another one of these monsters, there were others who saw it too. Two teenagers, a blond boy, and a black-haired girl, and a blond girl who looked like she was her age, fought the monster with real weapons!
That was the moment in Lea's life that changed everything. As she stood there helplessly, she sensed something, and in the corner of her eye she saw a weapon lying in a ray of sunlight. It was longer than the blonde girl's dagger but shorter than the boy's sword, and the blade was engraved with a sun. As she picked it up, Lea felt a tingling sensation throughout her body. She still can't explain what happened next. It was as if her body was on autopilot when the weapon was thrown in the direction of the monster, and it disintegrated into a heap of dusk.
From that day on, she traveled the country with Luke, Thalia and Annabeth and they explained to Lea what her father actually was and who she actually is.
