In a world run by madmen and fools, there is no bigger fool and no madman greater than I.

A ring was given, a promise made,

Yet as time went on you flipped like a coin,

I was led astray and given temporary happiness,

The veil covering my eyes left my heart exposed.

You took my still beating heart in your hands,

A soft squeeze that became a death grip,

It pulsed not for me and not for you,

It pulsed for us.

More than a wound, more than desperation,

My heart raced in anticipation, worry, and fear,

Your nails ripped my heart open and gouged it out,

It bled not for me and not for you,

It bled for us.

Rapidly the darkness swallowed me,

A threat worse than death,

Yet with a heart pulled from my chest,

Yet with a heart crushed in your hands,

I smiled,

I smiled not for me and not for you,

I smiled for us.

In a world run by madmen and fools, there is no bigger fool and no madman greater than I.
