I got up from my seat as I heard the doorbell ring. I walked over to the door to open it only to see the mailman in front of me looking really frightened, as he handed me an envelope. "This is for you Ms. Perez. Have a good day." he stated in a calm tone and left as quick as he came.

I looked at the envelope and searched for a name on it. Nothing. I wondered from who this is. I quickly hid it under my shirt and marched into the sitting room, realizing my father was staring at me. Then I heard him mumbling something. "Who was there?" he questioned, his tone making me flinch. "No one father, the guy who's cleaning the garden accidentally rang the bell." I stated calmly lowering my head.

Will he believe what I just said? I hope so.

Without questioning anything, he raised his hand in the air and pointed up to the ceiling, which meant, "Go up to your room and don't show me your face again today." I only nodded and made my way to my room. Our house is so big, I almost got lost again.

I felt a sense of relief, as I finally reached my room. I stepped in and closed the door behind me to lock it.

My heart pounded as I took out the envelope and opened it. "Malek Martinez" said the back of the letter and my heart skipped a beat.

Malek Martinez, the most dangerous man in Spain.

With shaky hands, I unfold the piece of paper and start reading.

"Hello Leandro Perez, I'm writing you this letter because I want to let you know that you finally need to fulfill your promise you made a few weeks ago. I have been waiting for a very long time and I've been patient for long enough. I'm warning you, if you don't fulfill your promise in a period of a week, I will unalive your beautiful young daughter. See you soon. Malek Martinez"

What the actual fuck did I just read here. I mean I know that my father is a criminal, but friends with a mafia boss? No way.

I sat down on my bed and tried to accept the fact that I was going to die soon. My father has never kept a single promise. Not a single one.

I can't die at 18. I haven't even met my husband.

Do I run away? No. I can't do that. He'll find me even if I ran away.

As I laid down, I stared at the ceiling for a few minutes, boredom taking over me. Then I sat up immediately when a thought popped up in my head.

I could ask to go shopping and since my father won't let me go alone I'd take Chesco with me. He's my bodyguard but no one knows that we are close. He's like the older brother I never had.

Getting on my feet, I quickly got dressed and put on very light makeup just to enhance my natural beauty.

I took my credit card from under my carpet, because that was where I hid it from my father.

Before I left my room I took the envelope and put it in my purse. I unlocked the door and headed downstairs. As I finally reached the living room I found no one sitting in it so I went to his office to find him.

As I finally arrived I took all of my courage and knocked two times on the wooden door.

"Come in" he shouted angrily. I turned the doorknob and as the door opened, I walked into the room lowering my head. "Father do you allow me to go shopping? I need a few things from the mall." I stuttered waiting for his response. "Go, I don't care but make sure to clean the floor when you come back. You're my biggest regret in life." he yelled.

Fucking bitch. One day I will shoot him in the middle of his head.

As I was about to walk out of the room he stopped me by saying something. "Take that stupid bodyguard with you, Chico or whatever his name was, there's no way you are going alone." he yelled again.
