Belos and Commander Lilith stood outside of the P.S.C. chamber. A week had passed since Lucia had reconnected, which meant that if they had gotten to her, she would either be dead, or soon be dead. But only the next few minutes would hold the truth hidden behind the sealed door.
The minutes passed by, feeling like an eternity after another. Until the door began to open. It was slow. Agonizingly slow. What was only ten seconds felt like hours. But in the darkness of the chamber echoed ragged, fearful hyperventilating. It was the only sound that rang from the shadows.
Belos let out a small, relieved sigh before he muttered, "So our experiment lives on." He eyed the shadows with a sharp gaze underneath his mask, waiting for anyone to come stumbling out. But a minute had passed and nobody had gone in or come out. Both he and Commander Lilith were growing impatient.
Lucia was curled up on the ground, clutching her head tightly, hyperventilating fearfully as she tried to blot out the horrid screams and war-like cries of terror she had endured over a full week. She had seen the dim light laying at the entrance and the two figures standing in front of it, but she never made an effort to go to it. She just squeezed her eyes shut and whimpered in the corner as if she wasn't even a human being anymore. But that's what Belos would have wanted. To treat her less than a human being and more like a wild animal.
Belos walked up to the front of the P.S.C. chamber and said, "Lucia, get out here. We need to talk before you begin going back through experiments again."
Lucia complied and brought herself up to her hands and knees before she slowly stood up. She felt the small prick of the toxin needle paralyze her vocal chords as she did so. She took a step, but her legs gave out underneath her, and she collapsed into the dim light, finally revealing herself to Belos and Commander Lilith.
Lucia was covered in large patches of dark blue blood. Blood from the phantoms. She was also trembling and nearly incapable of moving anything without wanting to just curl back up. She felt someone grabbing her by her waist and lifting her back up, just to see herself eye to eye with Commander Lilith. Belos stood right behind her, watching Lucia with an intense gaze.
"Did they hurt you?" Belos asked sternly. He got no response for well over a minute, so he crouched down to Lucia's eye level and repeated his query, stating, "Did they hurt you."
Lucia just looked at Belos, eyes wide and panicked. She didn't want to answer, but she knew she had to. So she shook her head slowly before she swallowed on air. She never even had a chance to do anything else before she heard Belos command, "Take her up for her missed experiments. She's got much to catch up on. Send her into my office when she's had a chance to rejuvenate her strength."
Lucia's eyes widened before a hand landed on her left shoulder, causing her to wince severely before a needle inserted into her neck, paralyzing her, and she was taken away by her personal guard who had stood outside the P.S.C. chamber she had spent a week in.
Belos had seen Lucia flinch and said, "Wait. Guard, do a top body scan." He didn't need to wait any further before the guard looked down at Lucia and began to scan her body with its eyes. Sure enough, its eyes flashed red when it came across an injury on her shoulder, though there were many more than just the shoulder that were found.
The guard lifted its head back up when Belos said, "You have permission to speak. Tell me what is wrong with her. Answer in full detail."
The guard quickly replied, "Experiment Nine-Three-Two-Seven J is suffering from a torn supraspinatus tendon in her left shoulder, as well has minor bruises and cuts along her abdominal muscles, phalanges, latissimus dorsi muscles, and iliopsoas muscles."
