"no longer a danger to herself or others," they'll declare
and we'll laugh that they ever thought you were.
we can both eat ice cream and not think twice,
we can drive down the street without dark thoughts bleeding into our minds.
i won't have to worry if you'll ever see me get married,
and i'll know i won't have to stand alone at a gravestone that reads
"beloved daughter, sister, teacher".
i'll go to sleep without wondering if that conversation was our last.
i'll compliment you and you'll believe it.
i'll love you as much as you love yourself.
and i won't have to smile sadly as i remember what having an older sister was like.
