"I'm sorry I'm the one who didn't die" ~ Julia Masterson .

One year has gone by since Charlie switched every few months between being a soldier in the survey corps and being an instructor for the trainees.
She would still go on every expedition with the survey corps, and every single time, comrades didn't make it back alive. It were significantly less now that Erwin was the commander and he and Charlie created the new formation, but it was still hurtful every time.
Charlie created sort of a drinking habit, similar to her smoking habit she created many many years back. It helped her cope, numb everything, forget.
Though, it was fairly difficult to forget all the horrible pictures for someone like Charlie. Someone—for whatever reason there was—could not forget anything she saw.
Not that anyone noticed a specific difference in her behaviour, nor would anyone dare to comment on it if they ever noticed it. The sixteen year old has gone through too much in her short life for people to tell her what to do.
Except if she decided to respect someone, then she was willing to do as told. But that was only the case with a very little amount of people.
Like Erwin.
The man tapped his pen on the table of his office desk, looking over the casualties list in the last several years.
"...how many casualties were there throughout Shadis' last years of leadership again?" He turned to Charlie, who was sitting on his office sofa with a notebook and a pen in her hand, looking very concentrated.
"102." She mumbled, not looking up.
"So if we take his last expeditions and ours in comparison, we lowered the casualties to....uhm..." He closed his eyes in thought.
"We reduced them by 48%." Charlie mumbled, continuing to scribble on her notebook.
Erwin nodded. "Right. How do you calculate that again?"
Charlie looked up shortly, before lowering her eyes again. "You calculate the average of a set of numbers, so you add up all the numbers and then divide by how many there are. Then you calculate the percentage difference between the two numbers, you find the difference between them, divide by the original number, and then multiply by 100." Charlie said, still scribbling on her paper with an unreadable look on her face.
Erwin had a frozen look on his face, trying to take in everything she said. "...and to think I'm the one that went to school..." He huffed, writing something down on his papers.
