WEEKS HAVE PASSED since Osamu's last and first visit to me in my city, and despite our daily texts and FaceTime calls, his absence left an ache in my heart. Perhaps it was the distance, or maybe something more; a flutter of feelings that I dared to label as a small crush.

Walking alongside the volleyball team, we made our way through the bustling hallway towards the gymnasium hosting the Interhigh Preliminaries. My eyes darted around, searching for my brother among the throng of players and spectators.

The air buzzed with murmurs and whispers, the sound of our team's reputation preceding us. People speculated about our origins, our stature, and our skills, their voices ringing clear despite their attempts at discretion.

"From Aoba Johsai, aren't they?"

"Tall bunch, even their manager."

"They look like solid players."

"Where's their setter though?"

"He's not here?"

The coach's ears caught wind of the last remark, prompting him to inquire about Oikawa's whereabouts. The tension mounted as one of the players hesitated before reluctantly revealing, "Some girls from other schools dragged him away."

Shock rippled through the group, the coach's disbelief mirroring our own. "Iwaizumi, Akira," he commanded, his tone icy and authoritative. Iwaizumi and I exchanged knowing glances, silently acknowledging our duty with a simple 'yes' to the coach.

From a distance, we observed my brother eating some girls cookies and talking to his fangirls. With a whispered command, Iwazumi deftly aimed a volleyball at Toru's head, the impact jolting him from his reverie and eliciting a pained yelp.

Ignoring the worried protests of his admirers, Toru turned to face us, his eyes wide with surprise and a hint of hurt. "That hurt...! Even the coach hasn't hit me!" he exclaimed, fake tears welling up.

He watched as Iwazumi lowered the ball that was once again in his hands and handed it to me.

"Iwa-chan don't give her the ball!!!!!" my brother cried out.

"If you don't want another hit, get moving," I declared, my gaze steely and unwavering.

With a hurried farewell to his fangirls, Toru followed us into the gymnasium, his face showing embarrassment.

Settling into our seats in the stands, my attention was caught by my brother's casual mention of a name that piqued my curiosity. "Yahoo Tobio-chan, shorty. How is the weird duo doing?" he called out doing a peace sign.

"Tobio-chan?" I curiously asked walking towards the railing of the stands spotting a familiar raven head alongside an Orange haired boy.

"Tobio-chan, it's great to see you again!" I greeted warmly, my smile genuine.

As Tobio blushed and shyly returned the greeting, Iwazumi's swift rebuke redirected my attention to my brother's hand, now smarting from the impact of the volleyball.

Concerned, I reached out to inspect the injury, momentarily setting aside my curiosity about Tobio and his friend.

Toru chuckled, rubbing his hand lightly. "I'm alright no need to worry sis." He shot me a mischievous grin before turning his attention back to the two boys standing in front of us.

I glanced back at the raven-haired boy, Tobio, who seemed a bit flustered by the attention. "So, Tobio-chan, are you and your teammate ready for today's matches?" I asked, trying to ease the tension caused by my brother's antics.

Tobio nodded, his expression serious. "We've been preparing for this. We'll do our best."

The orange-haired boy beside him nodded in agreement. "Yeah, we're gonna win this."

Iwaizumi rolled his eyes. "Don't get ahead of yourselves. Focus on playing your best game."

I chuckled, patting my brother's shoulder. "He's right, you know. Just do your best out there."

Before Tobio could respond, the announcer's voice boomed through the gymnasium, signaling the start of the first match. We settled into our seats, eagerly awaiting the exciting games ahead.

As we walked away from the bustling gymnasium, I couldn't shake the feeling that my brother was preoccupied with something. I glanced back at him and noticed his intense gaze fixed on Tobio and the orange-haired boy.

"Toru, you coming?" I called out, trying to draw his attention away from whatever was on his mind.

He snapped out of his thoughts and nodded, falling into step beside me. "Yeah, sorry, just lost in thought for a moment there." I studied his expression, but he quickly masked any lingering emotions with his usual charismatic grin.

We strolled around the place, taking in the sights and sounds of the bustling tournament atmosphere. The air was alive with excitement, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride seeing my brother and his teammates in their element.

As we wandered, I noticed Tobio and the orange-haired boy a short distance away, engaged in a conversation of their own. They seemed deep in discussion, their expressions earnest as they strategized for their upcoming matches.

"Looks like they're planning their next move," I remarked, nudging my brother playfully. He chuckled, his eyes never leaving the duo.

As we walked around the tournament grounds, the enticing aroma of freshly grilled food wafted through the air, enticing our senses. My stomach rumbled in response, and I glanced at my brother with a shy grin.

"Hey, Toru, how about we eat something?" I suggested, nodding toward the food stalls nearby.

His eyes lit up with excitement, mirroring my own hunger. "Yes! I'm starving."

We made our way to the nearest food stand, greeted by a colorful array of options. From sizzling yakitori skewers to steaming bowls of ramen, there was something to satisfy every craving.

After much deliberation, we settled on a spread of savory Takoyaki, crispy tempura, and piping hot bowls of Udon noodles. As we dug into our meal, the conversation flowed easily between us, punctuated by satisfied sighs and the occasional slurp of noodles.

Between bites, we couldn't help but steal glances at Tobio and his teammate, who had also made their way to the food stalls. It was comforting to see them unwind and enjoy a well-deserved break from the intensity of the matches.
