It was a huge staring contest, no one was saying anything, we just stood in a tight circle in the large sitting room communicating with our eyes, at least that's what it looked like.
But it was seven pairs of eye to one.

Cherry, who looked very different was the target of our laser beams.

I couldn't take it anymore. Everyone was acting so weird, the sorceress clearly told us that Cherry will show up at our doorstep.
Ma looked like she was about to pass out.
Pa's emotions were unreadable.
Micheal looked like he was going to be sick.
Uncle and Aunt looked the least bit surprised.

"I thought vampires don't age?"
Bree asked suddenly breaking the ice

I gave her a looked that said "read the room" gesturing around with my eyes.

The tick of the huge clock hanging on the wall could be clearly heard over the silence.

30...31...32...33... I counted the seconds.

"Well I did"
My eyes snapped back up as Cherry's voice came through..
"I know this is a whole lot to take in. But I'm no longer a vampire"
She looked at Ma on that last one.

Ma who stood frozen finally blinked her eyes and a drop of tears dropped.

"Ma"
Cherry cried out wrapping her in a tight hug.

From the corner of my eye I saw Bree roll her eyes.
Cherry had never been her favourite sibling.

"I don't trust her"
Michael whispered into my ear.

"I don't trust her too" Bree whispered back.

"I kinda trust her"
I whispered back

We kept quiet and watched the little drama of the prodigal daughter in front of us.

"Now that she's here, they are definitely going to come after her. We are not save here"
Uncle said sitting heavily on the sofa.

Ma was clutching Cherry so tightly as if she would disappear if she let go. Cherry didn't mind, she rested her head on Ma's shoulder.

"The sorceress said we are the key...she said something about a book."
Cherry looked my dead in the eye. She finally untangled herself from Ma.

"The book at the library?"
I asked no one in particular.

"You've seen the book?"
Aunt asked her eyes wide with shock.

"Yeah...I was not meant to see it?"
I asked cautiously

"No. Not that. I never expected you to find it so easily"

"It was right there on one of the shelves in the library" I answered.

"Someone must have brought it out and kept it there for you find. Because we made sure to hide the book where no one could find it"

I looked blankly at her, then realization dawned.

"The woman with grey eyes" I said suddenly. Everyone turned to look at me.

"The sorceress?" Cherry asked sitting upright her hands on her knees.

"Yes. I saw her coming out of the library as I was going in. She kept staring at me as if she was trying to tell me something"
I said, the events of that day as clear as day, I shuddered a little as I thought of how scared I was.

"So that was the book she was talking about?" Cherry mumbled to herself but I heard it.

"She told you something about the book? What did she say because that book was blank, and a page was already ripped off. The only words in the book were 'The End is Coming'"

There was another stretch of silence then Cherry spoke.

"She told me I should find you and we'll be able to unlock the book together"

"Unlock the book how?"

She shrugged
"The only way to find out is to go get the book"

I looked at Uncle, who nodded immediately
"The library doesn't open until later"

"We don't have time to waste, I'm sure they are already on their way here as we speak"

Bree made a whining sound, her face already pale with fear.

I suddenly stood up from the couch, my heart was thumping loudly, I felt a headache coming. I just suddenly realized how serious our situation is..

"Vampires can fly, can't they? or is it all a myth?" I asked, directing my question to Cherry who was pacing.

She came to a halt and turned frightened eyes at me...
"Yes they can and if they've found out I'm missing he'll be here any second"
She whispered the last word her breathe becoming laboured.

Ma walked toward her, wrapped her hands around her shoulder and lowered her on the sofa while rubbing her hands gently.
"Everything will be fine" she whispered but her eyes held doubt and a thick layer of fear.

"We need to move to a safe house, that way they won't find us easily" Uncle said suddenly getting up and running a hand down his tired face.

"Everyone go pack your essentials, we leave in five minutes or less"

Everyone dispersed into their rooms to start packing. Cherry just sat there, her eyes distant, her right leg bouncing continuously.

I gave her one last look before walking into my room.
I trust her.
I kept whispering those words to myself.

As I walked into the room, I saw Bree with a large bag on her bed already filled up.

I rolled my eyes and started packing my small bag.

"You know what essentials mean right?"
I asked her stuffing important things into my backpack.

"Everything in here is essential" She replied zipping up the bag and placing it on the floor.

"It's time to go " Uncle called from the sitting room.

I exchanged nervous glances with Bree.

I knew our life was about to change again.

                         ^^^^^^
Martha paced endlessly throughout the entire length of the large tent. She was worried, Cherry's life was in danger and she felt helpless.
She just needed to know what was going  through his mind that way she would know her next line of action.

She walked out of the tent into an open clearing. There was a larger tent with armed guards littered everywhere.

After traveling for over 10 hours they finally decided to rest here for the night. They were closing in on their location and that did nothing to calm her dead heart.

She walked towards the kings tent with purposeful strides.

"My king" she called outside the tent listening for a reply.

She heard a low grunt from within and took that a sign to go in.

The first thing she noticed was the king hunched on a low stool, a cup of wine in his hands and a murderous look in his eyes.

"My king" she called again, cautiously this time.

After what felt like an eternity, he slowly turned those eyes to look at her and they soften a little bit...

"I've always known this day would come. When I picked her from those woods, I always knew she was special"
He paused for a bit, took a sip of his wine and continued...

" I thought I could change her, I thought I could mold her into the person I wanted her to be, even after they warned me that she was dangerous" He shook his head slowly, his eyes distant.

I looked at him and for a few seconds, I could see the pain in his eyes.

"My king, what are you doing to do when you find her?"

He looked at me, all trace of emotion gone, the murderous look was back again.

"I'll kill her and her entire family. She is a threat to the Vampire reign and she has to be stopped"

I suddenly knew my next line of action...
