Mystic Falls, Virginia, 4 November

"Welcome to Mystic Falls, Vader," Anastasia turned to look at the Rottweiler who sat on the passenger seat, gazing out the window. "It's kind of boring, but you learn to tolerate it. Right, Kol?"

When she didn't receive a response from the Original in the back seat, Anastasia looked into the rearview mirror to see him glaring out the window like a sulking child. "Why are you so bitter? I thought you would be happy that this trip is nearly over."

Still no response...

"Are you still angry because Vader got to sit in the front?" Anastasia rolled her eyes at the sulking vampire. "Because I'm telling you — this attitude of yours is precisely why he's in the front and you're in the back."

Reaching over, Anastasia scratched the dog behind his left ear since it always calmed him. "And need I remind you that you're a vampire. So you could have ran here and you probably would have arrived before us."

Since she still didn't gain a response, Anastasia focused back on the road. When Anastasia drove the car up the driveway towards the Mikaelson Mansion, her excitement for being home again grew upon seeing Klaus exiting the house. Parking the car in the middle of the road — one of Klaus's minions would park it in the garage anyway — Anastasia quickly exited the vehicle with a bright smile.

Klaus, who still didn't fancy showing any form of 'weak' emotion in front of anyone else, hid his own joy about having his beloved siphon back. Instead smiled in amusement at the sight of her childlike excitement that reminded him of the times he'd visited her in Russia before the start of the First World War.

But not even the Original Hybrid was heartless enough to not catch Anastasia in his arms when she came barrelling towards him. "It's good to be back home again," Anastasia told him, sparing him from the humiliation of having to show affection for more than a few seconds.

"Don't get too comfortable here, love," Klaus told her. "I've already told Rebekah to start packing — now that the last White Oak Stake has been destroyed we're leaving town on Saturday."

"Why on Saturday?" Anastasia wondered, seeing as Klaus never had issues making a hasty move before. He usually did not give anyone enough time to prepare.

"Tomorrow is the 20s Decade Dance — so I thought we could end our stay in Mystic Falls with style," Klaus explained. "And Rebekah wanted to go."

"Translation: you want to see Caroline one more time," Anastasia teased, reaching up to pinch Klaus's cheek playfully. In response he swatted her hand away and she let out a pained cry. "You're mean, that actually hurt."

"If you poke the bear, you should be prepared for the consequences, Nastya," Klaus told her, knowing that she wasn't actually injured; he'd never hit her that hard. Over Anastasia's shoulder, Klaus spotted his brother leaned against the hood of the car, watching their interaction with a bored expression. "I didn't think you'd come back, brother."
