Today's review is for Roses, a Richard Grayson fanfic by icecoffeeluver. I have not been getting enough time to read stories so the reviews have gotten delayed. I hope to catch up soon with the remaining entries too. You guys have been very patient and I am very grateful for that.

1. Title of the story:

Roses.

The title is simple but as it is something that is an important aspect of Richard and Briar's relationship, it fits. The fact that your original character is named Briar, which is a type of wild rose, also adds to the relevance of the title.

2. Cover of the story:

I love the cover. The image of a vine of roses wrapping over a marble column not only looks beautiful but I think it can also be used as a metaphor. Something along the lines of how love can wrap around even the most rigid of hearts. Now of course this description of a rigid heart doesn't apply to either Richard or Briar but it kinda gave me that impression at first glance.

3. Description of the story:

I am including the description you attached in the form as a sneak peek for future readers who might check this fic out through the review. However, I feel like this is more of a prelude to your story than a description.

Anyways, here we go:

Red roses. The symbol of love and beauty. Often used to represent one's love towards another, or in Dick's case his love towards Briar Callaway. The man who stole his heart the moment their eyes met. When green met blue. The two dark haired males immediately felt a spark, felt a match light between the two. A connection formed off of attraction but grew once they got to know each other. What was once built off of only lust was eventually built off of an emotional tether.

Dick kept the relationship a secret for months, sending Briar roses everyday to show his love making up for the time lost when he couldn't be there. Briar adored this about Dick, but constantly tried to get him to stop wasting his money on roses when a phone call or text would do just fine. Despite all his efforts Dick still sent him roses everyday. Always at a random time with a cute little message on a card.

It was an adorable thing, one of the many reasons Briar fell in love with Dick. His ability to make others feel good about themselves in just a couple words and with a smile on his face. Dick's charming persona shines through but underneath that mask he's still just as charming with a little bit of trauma.

Briar is just as charming and flirtatious as Dick. he leaves small love poems on Dick's kitchen counter every morning along with a cup of fresh coffee. The little action makes Dick's heart speed up.

It started off as a one time thing when the two started staying at each other's places but eventually it became a routine for Briar to leave Dick a letter and a cup of coffee. Same as Dick giving Briar roses, what once started off as a one time thing grew along with their relationship.

The two are hopelessly in love with each other but then bad luck catches up with the two. After months of being lucky, the bad needed to happen. Unfortunately a cameraman caught the two kissing in the streets of Gotham, and suddenly the news of Bruce Wayne's ward, Dick Grayson, kissing a male is thrown all over Gotham.

In a state of panic the two can't find a minute of peace, but Dick needed to come out to his family anyways, but this wasn't the way he intended for them to find out. It's been a while since he last saw his family but this wasn't why he wanted to go see them, but he had to go.
