*Chapter 21*

The world became darker each and every second that I stood there, the gun still touching my forehead. Someone else grabbed me from behind, but I didn't dare to struggle against them. I no longer felt the gun against my forehead, though once I opened my eyes, I could still see that it was pointed right at me. My eyes closed on their own accord, I was to tired to stay awake.

"Janine!" I could hear someone yell my name. I wasn't sure if they were far away or not, it sounded distant, but I was weak, and it could easily be right beside me. I could feel myself be dagged by someone.

More people began shouting my name, though I still couldn't pin any of them down, not voices nor where they came from. The person dragging me dropped me, making me fall to the ground, though not before something thin and sharp entered between the back of my neck and spine. Something was injected in me, making pain hit through my entire body. I moaned in pain as my head hit something that felt like a rock and my consiousness fell away.

"Her vitals are stable, and I don't see another reason for her not to go home next week, other than her wound, it looks to be infected." I heard someone speak. "I will check up on it, and if it heals properly and the medications work, then she's free to go home."

"Thank you, doctor" I heard someone else speak. Their voice made tingles appear in my entire body, and my skin itched to be touched by he whom owned the masculine voice.

Footsteps faded, and I could hear the door being shut gently.
Again, footsteps could be heard, this time they came closer, and closer. It sounded like the footsteps stopped right next to me, and suddenly, a hand was against my cheek, making it tingle even more.

The door opened again, and someone else walked in. Their light footsteps came closer and closer, fast, as if the person was running towards me.

"Oh, sweety" A womanly voice was heard. A hand touched mine and I wanted so desperately to open my eyes and see who it was. "What did the doctor say?"

The same masculine voice answered her; "She's clear to go if her wound gets better soon. It's infected, she will be on meds and hopefully I can pull some strings and get her moved to the pack hospital."

The woman didn't answer, and I could only guess that she nodded her head in reply.

I tried to open my eyes, but couldn't. They felt heavy and it was like bricks weighed them down. I tried to move my arm, though again, nothing happened.

I heard gasps from both of the people in the room I was in. What happened?

Slowly, I managed to pry my eyes open and I had to blink them furiously when I was met with a bright light.

"Close the curtains" the masculine voice said and the hand holding mine disappeared. The warm and collause hand who were stroking my cheek moved to one of my hands, rubbing circles at the space between my thumb and pointy finger. "Baby?" left his mouth and I felt warm at the nickname he gave me.

Once I managed to stop blinking so rapedly, I could see clearly. Everything in the room was white, even the television in the far right corner and the painting on the wall infront of me. The painting was in different whites though, eggwhite, milk-white and a glittery white stripes swirled around on the painting, making the lines look infinite.

"Oh, sweety" the womanly voice spoke again. She sounded relieved, and when my eyes moved to her, I could see that she was, indeed, relieved. Once my eyes met hers a big smile formed itself on her face and her eyes began to glow in happiness. Her head shot up in excitement, making her brown and wavy hair bounce.

"You need to rest" the masculine voice told me and I turned to him. His blue eyes took my breath away and I felt my body tingle so much it began to hurt.

My free hand went to hold my head as a headache began to form and I was met with something that felt like a bandage.

"What happened?" I asked the people beside me.

"You don't remember?" the man asked me as his eyes clouded over in worry. I didn't know why, but the thought of him worrying over me made my heart flutter.

Who were these people?

I managed to grunt out a 'no' as my side began to hurt incredibly. The pain wouldn't stop, only seemed to increase over a small amount of time. I grunted in pain as I tried to sit upright in the white bed. The man tried to stop me from moving, but I only pushed his hands away, scared of the tingling sensation that I got eached time we touched skin to skin.

"Please" he pleaded. "You need to rest" the man looked sad and worried as he tried to lay me back down.

"Don't touch me" I said as I cowered away from him.

"Janine, what's with you?" the woman asked someone.

Who's Janine?

Time went and no one said anything. "Are you talking to me?" I asked as a wave of pain shot through my side and stomach.

"Of course" the woman said. Who else?" she looked at me. Wonder hid in the back of her eyes as she stared at me. I shrugged my shoulders in reply to her answer and tried to look away from them both. It was hard not looking at the man. He radiated power and leadership, and something about him made heat vibrate throughout my lower area.

My reactions towards him scared me, and at that moment I didn't want him anywhere near me.

"Do you remember us?" he asked me. I shook my head slowly in response, careful not to hurt my head more. Suddenly the man was on his feet, and hurrying out thr door. Before he left, I had caught a glimpse of disgruntledness.

"Don't worry, sweety. He'll get a doctor for you" the woman said. Her face basically screamed that she was hurt, though she smiled, trying to hide it.

Who was this woman to me?
