Werebears are a species of benevolent lycnathropes, creatures infected with diseases that transform them from their usual shape into that of some animal. While the affliction itself is considered a curse, werebears are seen as beings of immense good, and generally work to keep their less well-meaning cousins in check (oftentimes fighting the likes of Werewolves and wereboars on a regular basis). Unlike others of its kind, the werebear actively works against spreading their curse. When in combat, these enormous ursine creatures avoid biting so as to not infect any others.
