I'll Find You (TWD Glenn Rhee)

13: Nebraska

Evie's POV:

After Sophia's body hit the ground all I could hear were the sob's of Carol, Oliver, Beth, and some of my own. My dad was looking for this little girl every day and almost got killed in the process. I had hoped that all his hard work would pay off and we'd find Sophia. Well, we found her, just not in the way that we all hoped.

Dad was trying to help Carol stand up while she sobbed. "Don't look. Don't look." He told her while trying to pry her eyes off of Sophia's corpse. She ended up pushing my father away from her before starting to run away. 

Oliver tried to follow her, like the good son he is, but she turned around and screamed at him when she realized he was following her. "Leave me alone! It should have been you!" She had said those same words on the highway to Oliver and I had hoped that she didn't mean it. But I think she does. Oliver froze in place after his mother's words and watched her walk away.

Beth pried herself out of Jimmy's arms and started walking over to the dead walkers. Rick tried to get her to stop but Beth pushed him off of her and continued to walk over to her mother's corpse. When she found her mother she crouched down next to her. She had called out to her mother and my heart broke for her. I know how it feels to lose your mother, sure the circumstances are different. My mother died when I was seven and Beth's mother died and came back to life. But the hurt is still the same.

Beth's mothers reanimated corpse reached out and grabbed onto both of Beth's wrists and tried to pull her closer. That's when we all ran to help Beth. Rick and Shane were trying to pull Beth away and eventually succeeded before shoving her into Hershels arms.

T-Dog then started kicking the walker while Glenn held it up by it's arms so it would be easier to take down. But T-Dog was kicking it everywhere but the head, which is the only spot that actually matters. I walked up with my knife when I saw Andrea grab the scythe. I held my hand up at her so she wouldn't do anything. I was surprised she actually listened.

I inserted my blade into Beth's mother's head fast, but pulled it out slowly. I didn't want to damage her more than she already is out of respect for Hershel and his whole family.

I started walking to the house with Hershel, his family, Oliver, and Glenn. Rick and Shane were walking to the house too but were trailing behind us. As we approached the house Shane started yelling at Hershel.

"We've been out. We've been combing these woods looking for her and she was in there all along? You knew!"

"Just shut up!" Oliver groaned at Shane. "Leave us the hell alone!"

Rick then tried to stop Shane from following us anymore, but Shane slapped Ricks hand off of him. "Get your hands off me!" Shane yelled at Rick before following all of us to the house again. "You knew and you kept it from us!"

"I didn't know." Hershel tried to defend himself.

"That's bullshit!" Shane scoffed. "I think y'all knew."

"We didn't know!" Maggie yelled at him.

"Why was she there!?" Shane continued with his rage.

"Otis put those people in the barn." Hershel tried explaining. "Maybe he found her and put her in there before he was killed."

"You expect me to believe that?" Shane questioned. "Do I look like an idiot?"

"With that haircut?" I laughed in irritation. "Yeah, you do."

"Girl, let me tell you somethin'! He knew!"

"I don't care what you believe!" Hershel yelled at Shane before Rick tried to calm everyone down. But it didn't work. Hershel pointed to Shane while talking to Rick. "Get him off my land!"
