It was the night prior to my first mission and the anxiety was at an all time high. Truly, I felt like staying in my room and calming myself with some tea and music but when my boyfriend called me out, I couldn't say no.

I pulled on a grey jumper and some black ripped jeans with my Converse. It was reaching 11pm and I looked rough so I tied up my hair in a bun and left, phone in hand.

He told me to meet him at the balcony at the end of the compound near the canteen. I was pretty confused as to where I was going but I eventually found it, him sitting on one of the two chairs outside.

It was slightly chilly for an April night, so I was glad I had on my jumper. "Hi"

"Hey" Ross smiled. "Did I wake you up?"

"No, I don't think I'll be sleeping tonight. I'm quite nervous" I told him.

"Don't worry, you will be great. And, as I won't be around when you come back, I have a few things to give to you; close your eyes and give me your left wrist"

"I've head about 50 Shades of Grey and I sure hope you're not-"

"God, no!" He laughed. "There"

Around my wrist was a beautiful gold bracelet, with a little blue topaz in the middle. I grinned. "I love it"

"I have one too. It reminds me of how we met- like the topaz reminds me of water and your epic fall into the pool"

"Ha. Ha. But seriously, I love it. Thank you" I grinned. "But what do you mean by not being around for a while?"

"I have my own mission" he flicked his hair with sass and I giggled. "And I want you to keep this too. With all the rush of you settling in and whatnot, we never fully sat down to speak about each other- so I write everything about me here"

He handed me a brown leather notebook, a button on top of it with a string of suede wrapped around it, keeping it firmly shut. I smiled even wider, my cheeks now aching.

"Why are you so nice? Like, seriously, if half the boys I have met were like you the world would be such a lovely place"

"And kind of dull; gotta love the idiots sometimes. But thank you" he beamed. "Now give me a hug, because you need to seriously rest up"

I stood up and walked into his arms, holding him close to me as he returned the favour. "Good luck"

"Thank you" I squeezed his hands one last time then released him. "I'll try to reach you in some way when I land in Paris"

He nodded. "It will be awesome, I promise!"

Awesome my ass.

Nobody told me I was going to be in an 11 hour flight to England and then in a 2 hour train ride to Paris.

Right now I was half asleep with a cup of coffee in my hands, half way to France. Like usual, I was hooked up to David via a special ear device that didn't even need Wi-Fi or a network to work properly.

My eyes drooped and he spoke up. "Athena! Keep your eyes open, he should be there at any time"

At the same time he said that, the door to the carriage opened, a middle aged man with black hair stepped in. He looked like the daily commuter, but he was the guy I was after. He labelled himself as a scientist, and was truly trying to build Frankenstein; he was actually doing mad human trafficking.

I had to pretend to be a naive student infatuated with his theories. Joy.

I stepped out of my seat as he reached me. "Mr Bernard?"

"Indeed. And who's this lovely face with the amazing eyes?" He seemed approachable.

I faked a grin. "Clara. I love your work in evolutionary development. Innovating"

"Always nice to meet someone who appreciates my work" he shook my hand. "Is the seat beside you taken?"

"No sir, please" I moved back to my seat and he sat beside me. I had been droned on about his studies for hours prior to this, so kicking off a conversation was easy, to get him comfortable around me.

The next part, however, would be tough.
