"Are you sure I have to go here. I'm not good at regular Chemistry let alone Advanced" I looked at the sign on the door hesitantly as Casey encouraged me in.

"Yes, all new kids have to take Advanced classes to see if they can cope with those; if not, then they'll get moved down" she explained. "I'll come and pick you up to Social Studies, okay?"

I nodded and walked in, holding my books to my chest. Today I ditched the tennis skirt and over-the-knee socks for a simple skater skirt and black tights. Instead of converse, I also wore some flatforms.

A spare seat was in the back row beside a blonde guy, so I took it. He was familiar, he was the one also standing with Ross at the canteen yesterday. I wonder if they are siblings...

"Hello everybody!" Our teacher bellowed, his hair sticking in awkward directions. "And hello, new young lady. Thanks for joining us"

I smiled quickly then looked down as everybody turned to look at me. The man eventually gained everybody's attention as he began a full-on biography on the Haber process.

Once a mistake was noticed. I stuck my hand up. "Athena..?"

"Um, you got the temperature wrong. It's 450 degrees, not..350" I pointed out, slowly lowering my hand.

"I noticed that too" the boy beside me spoke. Our teacher looked at the board and then his eyes widened, rubbing out the 3 and replacing it by 4. "Rookie mistake"

"Even my little brother knows this" I commented and he laughed.

"Cute and smart, wow"

I looked at him. "What? Aren't most girls like that?"

"They may be, somewhere far far away from here" he smirked and held his hand out for me to shake. "Riker"

"Athena"

"Gorgeous name" he commented and I blushed slightly. "Hey, this is kind of sudden but seen as you're new, do you want to be my lab partner?"

"Sure, that sounds cool" I nodded, continuing to take notes for revision.

"So I was walking past the P.E. block and- here it is!" Casey pulled me to the notice board and tapped it excitedly. "Dance club on Wednesday!"

"Uh, I don't know.." I rubbed my arms nervously. "I haven't danced in a while"

"We aren't the best people either so you know" she rolled her eyes as she slipped on her leggings (we walked to the changing rooms after seeing the flyer). "It will be so fun"

"I'll think about it" I pulled on a black t-shirt then laced up my Roshes. Casey looked at me with a serious expression. "What?"

"You have scars all over you.."

oh crap.."I, uh, I used to play rugby and they never really went"

She then smiled. "Ah"

I tied up my hair and followed her out to the sports hall, a group of boys which I assume were the boy's class was speaking to some of the girls from our group. I stood awkwardly beside a mingling Casey, staring around at the many sports related posters, until somebody tapped my shoulder. "Hi Rocky"

"Hey" he smiled, his hair in a little ponytail. "I didn't know you were I this class"

"I'm probably not, I'm following Casey around" I shrugged and he chuckled. "That hot chocolate last night was nice"

"Yes, we should get some more at some point" he agreed as the doors to the massive hall opened. Our groups split, and we sat in two rows (boys and girls) and then a mixed group.

"Badminton!" Casey screeched as soon as the options for today were said. I smiled at her excitement, and nodded until she pulled me up to collect rackets.

A tall boy and a shorter girl walked up to us. "Hi!"

"Hello" I greeted them.

"Athena, this is Spencer and this is Hallie. We usually all play badminton together but I'm 'injured' so it's just three of you"

"You're cool with playing two against one right, or one of us could play with you and then rotate around?" Spencer suggested.

"I can play with one of you, if you want"

The voice that was once my safe haven echoed behind me. I looked around with an astonished expression, and he flashed me his signature dopey smile. My eyes looked up from his briefly and settled on the little round scar on the left of his forehead. "Is that cool with you, new girl?"

"You don't remember me?" I blurted, which took him aback.

"I don't remember anything from the last 17 years of my life" he smiled again. "But that's a story for a different place; may I play?"

"S-Sure" I stuttered, moving to the right of the court with the shuttlecock.

It was all peaceful, until I was struck across the head, of course.
