"Hello, sir!" Nishita chirped, adding a wink as she sauntered into Chandrakant's office. The sight that greeted her was a stark contrast to the disheveled mess she remembered from a few months ago. She could hardly believe this composed individual was the same person who had been falling apart a few months ago.

"So, what's the secret to this transformation?" she teased, leaning casually against the desk. He looked up from his paperwork, his demeanor calm and confident, a far cry from the turmoil she'd witnessed before.

Chandrakant a little taken aback by her presence, questioned, "Nishi, are you seriously here in Mumbai?"

Nonsense fucker!

"No 'hi,' no 'hello,' no 'how are you'?" Nishita rolled her eyes dramatically. "No wonder you and your Jaggy are best friends. You're both terrible hosts." She shrugged nonchalantly. "Acting surprised instead of being welcoming."

He chuckled, "Hi! Come in... That you have already done, take a seat maybe. What brings you here?"

Nishita strolled in, her eyes wandering around the office before she plopped down across from his desk. "Well, thank you," she remarked. "And wow, Kant, you look... different. I nearly didn't recognize you."

Chandrakant arched an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. "Different, you say? Should I be flattered or offended?" he mused, a sly smile playing on his lips. "You've always had a talent for teasing the gentlemen, after all."

"Now that's a misconception," Nishita pouted cutely, resting her face in her hands. "I'm not against men, I'm against patriarchy."

"Good to know." Chandrakant smiled. "So, what brings you here? I'm sure Jaggy told you he's on leave this week."

"Yeah, yeah," Nishita replied, leaning back in her chair with a dramatic sigh. "He told me his siblings are visiting, and he's buried in wedding shopping."

"And yet, here you are, cavorting with the groom's bestie," Chandrakant leaned in, lowering his voice like he was sharing a juicy secret. "Quite the scandalous affair."

"Oh, fuck off!" Nishita swatted at him playfully, prompting a chuckle from him. "Jagdish has complete faith in you. He wouldn't question your motives for a second."

"Hmm... And what about you?" Chandrakant winked, adding a mischievous grin. "Are you plotting something diabolical with a poor gentleman like me?"

Eww.

Nishita scrunched, shooting Chandrakant a pointed look. "You're as insufferable as Viki. I can see why she avoids mentioning your name, some fucking Voldemort."

Chandrakant's reaction was swift like he'd been doused with a bucket of ice water. "Hmm..." he leaned back suddenly, snatching up a file. "Well, pray tell, what brings you to my humble abode? I... uh, have some urgent business to attend to."

Is it so?

Nishita, sensing his mood shift, said, "Actually, I wanted to talk about Viki."

Chandrakant tensed slightly, his grip tightening on the file. "Devika!? What about her?"

"She's looking for a place to stay in Mumbai, and I thought you might help. You two would make great flatmates." Nishita dropped the bombshell, waiting to read his response.

His mind raced, but he maintained a poker face. "She's in Mumbai?" He mumbled.

"Yeah, she got a job here."

"Oh... but I'm not sure, Nishi. We don't really know each other that well..."

Nishita pressed on, "I understand but she needs somewhere safe and stable right now. Plus, Jagdish mentioned you have a big place all to yourself and could use the company."
