I was unpacking and putting on my robes when the door burst open and Imelda came in. "We're back bitches!" She exclaimed while throwing all her things on her bed.
I shook my head at her. Such an Imelda way to enter the room. "Well, it's good to see you too, Mels. Welcome back!" I walked over toward her and gave her a swift hug.
"It's good to be back. I'm so excited for this year. I'm really hoping Black announces the return of Quidditch tonight at the feast." She said while digging around for her own robes.
"Even I'm kind of hoping for that. I've never seen a Quidditch match before." I revealed to her. She gasped slightly.
"Sometimes, I forget how little you've experienced. You're like an alien! I love it." She said teasingly as we both finished dressing for the feast.
She looked around to see our roommates hadn't arrived yet, so it was just the two of us. "Ok, now that we're all ready to go we have time to discuss something. Something very important. Very serious."
She sat on the edge of her bed and gave me the stern look she always gives when trying to set up flying stats. I had a bad feeling about this.
There was a pause. "Well..." we both said at the same time. We both stopped and looked at each other, waiting for the other to continue and then began laughing hysterically.
Once our giggles died down, she tried again. "Seriously, though, Rachel. I HAVE TO know. What happened with you and Ominis the other night at the Leaky Cauldron?"
Oh. We weren't even at Hogwarts and the news had spread already. I mean, Imelda was there so I guess it made sense. I just wasn't prepared to have to talk about it to anyone BEFORE I'd talk to Ominis about it.
"Um, well, he gave me a birthday present and then... he... um. He kissed me." I said the last part quickly and then clamped my mouth shut waiting for her reaction.
At first, she just sat there with no reaction on her face at all. Slowly, a grin started to form on her lips and then she yelled, "I KNEW IT!" She threw herself back on the bed like she was having a fit, giggling like a psycho.
She finally got up and grabbed my wrists and pulled me down to sit on the bed with her. "So. Are you two together? Was he a good kisser? What did he smell like? How far did you go?" She was an unstoppable force of nature. But I had missed the girl talk.
"Mels. Stop." I interrupted her. She stopped and sighed out deeply looking at me hopefully and waiting.
"I don't know yet. Yes. A forest at twilight. Just a kiss." I answered her all at once with my cheeks blushing so hard I could feel my face burning.
"OH, MERLIN THIS IS AWESOME!" She yelled.
"Shhh, Imelda. I don't want everyone to know yet until I can figure that out for myself. We haven't even talked since that night. And honestly, I didn't even know he liked me. Until that night. And I didn't even know I liked him back until like an hour ago. So... I just really need to talk to him first, ok?"
"Yes, yes I get it." She threw her hands up. "Why you got to be so proper all the time? Have a little fuuuuun." She poked me in the ribs. "By the way, I kissed Ominis once." She threw it out like it was some random, nothing fact.
My eyes got big. There was a twinge of anger inside me. "Oh? And how was it?" I tried to ask without sounding jealous.
"I don't remember if the actual kiss was any good. It was in our second year and I just thought he was cute, so I kissed him. And he pushed me into the mud."
