One Month later
The Christmas trees lining Diagon Alley were stunning! My eyes were soaking them in. And so were the twins' eyes! Their bright eyes lit up every time we passed a glowing tree down the street.
"It's beautiful here!" Anne said, clutching my arm that was pushing the carriage. "I've never been to Diagon Alley at Christmastime."
"I know. Just look at the twins! They are so intrigued!"
Anne gasped. "I know what we could do!"
"What?"
"The twins can have their first ice cream! Let's go into Fortescue's and try some!"
I smiled at her. "Ok. But don't tell Seb. He'd be so mad he missed their first ice cream. Plus, he's not keen on giving Junior sugar... he's already a force to be reckoned with." I smirked at her.
She laughed loudly.
We entered the warm shop and approached the counter. Anne ordered chocolate. I ordered vanilla and a small scoop of strawberry for the twins so they could try them all.
We sat down at a nearby table, each with a twin in our lap.
Anne started laughing immediately. "Look at Lottie! She's got it all over her face!" Charlotte looked up to me, smiling from ear to ear with chocolate smeared everywhere. I started to laugh too. Anne tried to wipe her face and she opened her mouth up again for more. She and Anne finished Anne's entire chocolate ice cream together.
Junior on the other hand, didn't seem keen on my vanilla. I had a little on the spoon and slipped it in his mouth. He made a face and pushed it out of his mouth with his tongue, so I had to wipe his chin. "What, Junior? You don't like it?" He put his palm to my face.
Cold. I could feel his intention through our connection. "Too cold?" I chuckled at him.
I scooped up a small amount of strawberry and let it melt on the spoon a little.
When I put it to his mouth, he clenched his lips. "Come on. Try it." I cajoled him. "Look, Charlotte likes it." She was giggling with Anne and had chocolate everywhere. He slowly opened his mouth and I quickly slipped the small bite of strawberry ice cream into it.
The strangest look crossed his face. And then he smiled and opened his mouth again. So, I gave him a little more. And he took it gladly.
More. He told me through our connection. "See? I knew you'd like it, Junior." I gave him some more and before I knew it, he had finished all the strawberry and was giggling just like his sister.
"This was so fun!" Anne said while wiping up Charlotte who was happy as a clam at her first ice cream. Junior was happy too, but food didn't give him as much happiness as mischief. He and Charlotte were very opposite. I loved them both equally! My special babies.
Suddenly, I wanted to see my husband.
"Anne, is it ok if I leave the twins with you and pop in on Seb? His office is just around the corner. He'd be so surprised! And I've never been." I remembered I had concerns about visiting his workplace. But as he didn't work inside Gringotts proper... I thought it would be safe.
"Of course!" She turned to the twins. "Let's go visit the owls! What do you say?" And she helped me tuck them back in their carriage together, securing their hats and gloves as it was lightly snowing out.
I walked down the street slowly, taking in all the Christmas decorations and the sales going on in every store. We came here specifically to get Christmas presents for the twins. It was their first holiday and we were all so excited!
