Quidditch season had begun. Imelda was in her true form. As captain, she had assembled her perfect team. And she had Sebastian as seeker again. The memories flooded back of Sebastian kissing me on the quidditch field and all the times I held my breath watching him play. It was hard for me to even go to the matches and watch even though Imelda needed my support.
"Please, Rach. Come to this one. I need you there. We're playing Gryffindor. Our biggest rivals. Garreth is on the team! You can be there to watch him too... please. I want you there."
"Imelda. Please, calm down and stop begging. I already planned on coming."
"Really? YES! I'm so excited. I really missed you there last time... and you didn't come to the party either when we beat Hufflepuff. Garreth said you didn't come to his either when they played Ravenclaw. I just assumed you were boycotting Quidditch."
"Well, sort of. But I realized I can't punish my friends for my stupid preferences. I'll be there." I smiled at her and she grinned back, positively glowing with excitement.
"So, how are things going with Garreth?" She asked off-handedly.
"Um... what do you mean, exactly? We're good."
"I mean... you two are flirting all the time and holding hands in the hallways, sitting together... spending like every second together for weeks now. Are you dating?"
"No. No, I'm just... enjoying his company." I smirked at her. I knew Garreth and I were more than friends, but nothing was official. I didn't want to say anything official either without having spoken to Garreth about it yet.
"Well, didn't he take you out for Valentine's Day?"
"Well, yes I suppose. But we just had tea and cakes."
"And the cake had a big heart on it." Imelda giggled at me. "Plus, he gave you that singing bee that sang constantly in our dorm for a week straight. You had to bury it in your trunk until the enchantment wore off. Wasn't it something like 'Beeeeeee mine you're all the buzzzzzz'..." She started to sing out loudly.
"Imelda, please! Stop!" I was turning so red.
She just laughed. "Well, I think Garreth thinks of it more than just 'enjoying each other's company' and you should talk to him about it. And if you're going to break his heart, do it before the match so we'll DEFINITELY kill them!"
"Mels! That's horrible." But I smiled at her, nonetheless.
I knew I needed to talk to Garreth. But I didn't want to. I didn't want to be a 'couple' really. But I was having fun with him. It's just that.... I wasn't in love with him. I was still in love with... that wasn't important. The important part was that I liked Garreth and we were becoming closer and I had a feeling he was wanting to really cement this whole thing. I was really reluctant about that. I had enough going on without worrying about hurting a boy's feelings on top of it.
--
"Rach!" Garreth yelled to me as I exited the Great Hall from breakfast.
"Oh, hi Garreth." I said politely.
"Hey. So, are you coming to the quidditch match this Saturday? We're playing Slytherin and I'd love to see you there, wearing green but cheering for Gryffindor. Because you know we're going to win." He smirked at me and laughed loudly at his joke.
"Yes. I'll be there, Garreth. But Imelda would KILL me if I cheered for Gryffindor. You know that already." I nudged him in the elbow.
He just chuckled. "Well, I'm glad to hear it. So, would you like to... go out with me on Friday night? We could take another boat ride? Or go to Hogsmeade? What do you think?" His face was lit up.
