Engagment Party

Lydia woke up from her deep sleep and as she woke she received an owl.

"Thank you Blue"

She opened the letter to find that it was Alexei that had written.

"Hi Lydia, I'm inviting you to my engagement party, bring someone with you, I have a surprise announcement to make"

"Oh no, I dread to think what he will be announcing"

As she got herself decent for the day, a million words were overlapping her thoughts, she loved Alexei but her thoughts were with Sebastian.

"Blue, send this message to Sebastian"

Blue flew off and quickly as she could to get to Sebastian.

Dear Sebastian, I have received an owl from him asking me to bring someone for his engagement party later today, meet me by the room of requirement when you can, love Lydia"

Sebastian read the letter and freaked out.

"Oh Merlin if he knows that me and Lydia are seeing each other, we are both finished"

Sebastian got ready and met Lydia by the room of requirement.

"Sebastian, here you are, we need to talk"
"I got your owl and yes we do need to talk"
"I have an idea on how to go about this, take someone who you know well say Ominis or Imelda"
"Ok I'll do that but I'll have my eyes on you the whole time, if that's okay"
"Yes that's fine, I'll see you there"

Sebastian kissed her on the cheek and left.

5 hours later
......

"Lydia, I heard you are going to the engagement party, mind if we accompany you"

Lydia turned around to see that it was poppy and garreth.

"Of course, I'd love to go with you both"

They all linked arms and headed to the party.

As soon as they got to the place, they heard music, they were greeted by Alexei and Victoria.

Victoria had her arm linked to his so to make sure that Lydia got the message.

"Welcome, we hope you have a good evening"
"Thank you for inviting us"

Alexei and Lydia gave a look of reassurance that everything was going to be okay.

When Poppy, Garreth and Lydia stepped inside, everyone turned to look at them.

The nerves Lydia was feeling was unbearable.

"Poppy, I'm feeling uncomfortable now, can we step outside for a moment"

But before they could, Sebastian had stepped in with Imelda.

"Hi Lydia, you okay?"
"No I'm not, I feel uncomfortable"

Sebastian gave her a look as if to say stay calm.

"Good evening everyone, I'd like to make an announcement"

Lydia felt a knot in her throat, she didn't know what Lorenzo was going to say to everyone.

"I'd like to say thank you for attending our engagement, I'd also like to announce that my future wife is with child"

As soon as Alexei announced it, he looked at Lydia with tears in his eyes.

Lydia couldn't believe what she just heard, her beloved was going to be a father but not with her, she ran out the room crying like she had never cried before.

"We hope our child will be born healthy"

Victoria was smug she didn't care what Lydia's reaction would be, she was happy with the man that was chosen for her.

Once the announcement was finished, Alexei said to Victoria.

"Dearest, I'm gonna take a moment, I'll be back soon"

He stepped outside to find Lydia sitting on a bench in silence.

"Lydia"

For once, she didn't look at him.

"How far along is she?"
"She is 8 weeks"
"Why didn't you tell me in advance, why did you leave it till now"
"I thought you'd be pleased"

Lydia's anger was visible to see.

"First you are engaged then you tell me that she's with child by you"

Lydia felt like she had been hit with crucio all over again but this time was 10x worse.

"I regret giving myself to you, you promised it was us against the world but look what has happened, now that SHE is with your child, you are linked forever, I wish you the very best with your wife and child, Mr Murphy".

Before she could walk away, Alexei grabbed Lydia's hand.

"I have a last request of you before you walk away forever"
"What is that?"
"Kiss me"

Without anyone around, they placed a passionate kiss on each others lips.

"Goodbye Alexei, I wish you well"
"Goodbye Lydia, I shall never forget you"

With tears in both their eyes, they turned their backs and walked away.
