Chapter Six

After dropping Esther off, I drove home and Rachel was sitting in my office ready to work.

"First order of business, are you hungry? I have Mickey Mouse pancakes and green eggs," I laughed

"No, I already ate. Thank you," she smiled politely

"Mrs.Tate called, she bought a house for her son and daughter in law, she asked us to decorate the whole house for them," I said

"Not to sound mean but she's not exactly smart. You have no references and she wants us to decorate the entire house," she laughed nervously

"My fiancé and I decorated this entire house," I boasted

"Where is he? If you don't mind me asking,"

"He committed suicide," I looked away from her

"And you still consider him as your fiancé and father of your child?" She asked

"He thought I was dead, he couldn't imagine an eternity without me," tears stung my eyes

"Forever is just a season, there is no forever for anyone," she made the statement with confidence

"I've heard there were animal attacks, everyone I've met who's lived in Mystic Falls don't believe them so I came here to prove them wrong," she added

"So you don't believe in supernatural beings?" I asked

"Not one," she said

"Enjoy your studies," I smiled and returned back to my work

I invited Elena and Damon over for dinner, they just had a daughter not too long ago and needed a break.

Damon and Elena took the cure so they could live a normal life together.

"So she doesn't believe in the supernatural?" Elena asked in a confused tone

"Nope, or at least that's what she says," I replied

"I think she's lying Caroline," Damon added in

"Rose is so beautiful," I admired

"She's got him wrapped around her little finger," she pointed at Damon and laughed

"But it's so cute," I smiled at Damon

"She's going to be so spoiled," I added

Looking Damon and Elena made me envy the thought of having a family. Esther and I are family but I just think it'd be a hell of a lot easier and just better with a man. No one is going to ever amount to Nik but he isn't coming back either.

Maybe it was time to get back out there.
