The more I went out with Ethan, the happier I was. At night when everything had died down, I felt bad. I felt like I was betraying Klaus in a way. But as someone who loves me, he should want me to be happy. It was difficult without him and at some point I had to move on.

I had to wake up a groggily Esther on this winter morning and get her dressed for brunch. Ethan invited us to a Christmas Eve brunch with his parents.

I wore a loose fitting white shirt with a navy blue blazer. Around my neck, I wore a cream pashmina. I put black plain flats to go with the outfit.

Esther wore a red sun dress with a fuzzy cream cardigan. I put brown boots on her and put her hair into a bun like mine.

Once we were ready, we waited for Ethan to arrive with his son, Wyatt.

"Mommy," Esther said

"Yes sweetheart?"

"Do you love him?" I knew who she was talking about

"Maybe someday I will," I put her on my lap

"What about Daddy? Do you still love him?" She asked as she placed her head against my chest

"Of course, I will always love daddy," I caressed her cheek

"But how can you love them both?"

"Well baby, Daddy isn't coming home so it's okay that I love someone else but always know that I love Daddy beyond the moon and back," I kissed her head

"Do you miss him?"

"Always," I said

"Is Ethan going to be my new daddy?"

"No, Daddy is your daddy but if I marry Ethan he'll be your step father," I explained

"Do you want to marry Ethan?"

"I'm okay that we aren't married but if he asked me today I'd say yes," I said

"Would I be in the wedding?"

"Of course, you're my everything," I squeezed her tight

"I love you Mommy," she smiled

"I love you more," I kissed her as I heard the doorbell ring

"If I could have everyone gather around," Ethan gestured towards him

When everyone was standing in front of him, he began to speak.

"They say it takes four months to fall in love, but for me it took one night. The night of our first date, I knew we were destined for forever," he got down on one knee

"So with saying that will you, Caroline Forbes-Mikealson do the honor of marrying me?"

I was completely shocked, I knew I'd say yes but I hadn't told him my secret yet. Would he truly accept me?

"We need to talk," I didn't want to worry him

I'd planned to tell him everything, I just hoped he'd still love me.
