Time had flown when I was with Ethan, I had given him a year of my life. And in that year, Esther fell in love with him too. It was hard for the both of us, we missed him.

Everything felt different, it felt like a part of me was missing.

"Mommy, when is Ethan coming back?" Esther looked up at me

"He's not sweetie," I said quietly

"But why?"

"You guys are supposed to get married," she said

"I know baby, but sometimes things just don't work out," I fought my tears

"They can though right, they can work out later right?" She was surviving on hope

There was a light knock at my door. I told Esther to stay where she was so I could get the door.

"Forbes-mikealson residence," I smiled as the words came out

"Care please," he pleaded

"I told you not to come near me or my daughter," I growled

"Just listen to what I am about to say," he pleaded

"Tyler, what did I tell you?" I asked rhetorically

"I'm sorry Caroline, I'm sorry for what I did to you," he was on his knees begging for my forgiveness

"I forgive you Tyler but you've done enough damage, please just stay away from me and my daughter," I said before closing the door.

"Esther! Come down for dinner sweetheart," I called upstairs

"Your phone is ringing," she announced

"Don't answer it," I told her

"I already did, someone is in the phone for you," she urged it towards me

"Hello," simultaneously the doorbell rang

"Hold on one minute," I said to person on the phone.

As I opened the door and took in my surroundings, my heart stopped.

"Hello," he said into the phone

"Caroline, I don't know what I did. But I do know that I want to spend our lives together, I can't imagine a world without you. Please just say yes and make me the happiest man alive," Ethan pleaded

"I don't care, it does not matter to me. Nothing else matters but you," he grabbed my hands and held them in his

Ethan jumped up and pulled me into his arms.

"You know, I thought I was going to leave here with this ring," he said as he slid the 14 karat ring onto my finger.

"Well good thing you didn't," I joked

"Do you want to stay for dinner?" I asked

"I have to get Wyatt from his mom's house tonight," he kissed me before leaving

"I love you!" I shouted at his moving car.

I know what you're thinking, I'm not a bad person. How far would you go for the one you love? I have to marry him. I couldn't turn him down again, not when our break up affected me so badly.

Esther wanted it too, she wanted him back in our lives as much as I did.
