Turning I found Bailey and Connor looking at me with more panic than before. "I need my bag!"
Connor ran upstairs and brought it to me. Eagerly, I pulled out my knife and they both growled and stepped back. I shoved the knife in my dress pocket.
"Josh, he's in trouble. Link Kyle and tell him to bring at least ten warriors, up to the northern border. There was an attack and there are ten hybrids headed straight for Josh."
Bailey grabbed me, "You can't leave! Josh would never forgive me if something happened to you."
Growling, I pulled my arm free, "You don't understand!" I shoved past her but Connor stopped me.
"Josh said we couldn't let you leave."
Shoving him out of my way, anger pulsed though me as my wolf took control, "If I don't leave now, Josh will die!"
Before I could get a reply, I was sprinting from her room, and running into the woods like a mad woman. Pulling off my sun dress, I held it in my mouth as I shifted mid stride. His future wasn't changing, he would still die. Pushing harder, I fought back the thought. He would not die. I had never ran faster in my life before. Goddess and my wolf were in full control, both mad that I didn't mark him when I had the chance and heart broken at the thought of losing him.
Ignoring the pain that pulsed through every inch of me, I pushed harder. When I came to the spot where I had seen him die, I turned back to my human form, pulled on my dress and took the knife from the pocket. Listening, I took in my surroundings, attempting to figure out what I was getting myself into. My heart ached when I heard him, I could still hear his heart beat. It was very faint, the venom was getting to him. My heart ached when I looked into the clearing and saw two monsters standing over his dying body.
Growling, they turned there attention to me. One of them snickered, "Awe. How cute. His mate came out to play."
Ignoring him, I sent a wave of love to Josh. He needed to calm down, his raising heart was only spreading the venom through him faster - speeding up his death.
The two looked at each other and began to come from two different sides. Just wanting to be with Josh, I wasn't going to wait and play games. Taking a hold of the wolf inside them with my gift, I moved one toward me. I was amazed it actually worked. Goddess knew what she was doing. When he was close enough to me, I took the knife and easily cut off his head. Tossing his head away from the body, I looked to the other one. He looked at me in fear and disbelief. Just as I was about to attack, wolf Kyle jumped out of the tree line and took off the man's head.
Not thinking twice, I ran to Josh and pulled his head into my lap. Taking the silver, I began to burn the venom from his cuts as I cried. He didn't respond, not a cry or a scream, nothing. My heart ached, he was dying. His heart beat once more and then stopped. Everyone in the clearing froze, waiting for the next beat but it never came.
Everything inside me broke and I wailed out in pain. This couldn't be happening. "No." I cried as I pulled his lifeless body closer to me, "Please. You have to come back to me." Everything inside me was on fire and my chest ached worse than anything I had ever felt before, "Come back to me." I kissed his lips but no response, no need, no nothing. "You can't leave me." Desperately, I clutched him tighter to me. "Please."
But nothing came. He was dead.
Kyle and the others moved in closer to us. I growled evilly and crouched over Josh's body in defense. "Mine!" I snarled and shoved them all back. I was out of control, completely out of control. He couldn't be dead.
Kyle put his hands up, "We have to get him out of here, there are others coming." He took a step closer and I growled.
"Mine!"
"Yours. Yes. But we need to get you both out of here."
Before I could do anything else, Goddess took over me - shoving me back and taking control. "Fine."
They moved him on a board and I climbed over him, straddling him as I weeped. Reaching down and resting my hands over his chest, Goddess worked through me. "Crescents luce." Her power pulsed through me and into the empty body.
Kyle growled, "What are you doing?"
I didn't reply, I couldn't. If Josh was going to die today, I was going to put all my energy into dying with him. Leaning down, I pressed my lips to the spot where my mark should be - the mark that would have saved him from all of this. Goddess worked without me as my canines came out and dug themselves deep into his neck. As I pulled away, I whispered, "In manus tuas commendo spiritum meum."
Kyle growled, "What the hell are you doing tot him?"
"Saving his life!"
All the men watched in disbelief as I continued to heal his wounds. The men walked us back to the house and set us down somewhere. I wasn't sure where I was or who was around me and I didn't care.
Holding him tighter to me, I sobbed, "Live. Please live." My sobs began to shake me as I attempted to heal him. All his wounds began to vanish but still he didn't breath, his heart didn't beat. I'm not sure how long I staid like this, poring my life source into him but I could feel my body weakening.
Once my mark had been made and settled on his neck, I pulled his arm around me and held his hand over my Luna mark and rested mine on his mark, "Crescents luce." I forced every last bit of life I had left in me, into him. Collapsing over his chest, the world went black.
