><><>< Daryl's POV ><><><

"You need to calm down." Beth said to me in her smallest voice. It's been over an hour and Y/N hasn't woken up yet. I can't just sit here and watch her suffer, it was hard enough seeing her go limp in my arms.

"We gotta do somethin!"

"Daryl there's nothing we can do." I brushed her off and paced back and forth throughout the cabin. My heart was racing and panic started to set in. She was the only one that kept me alive, and if she was gone, I don't know what I'd do.

I looked over to the couch to see her still passed out. My eyes focused on one part of her stomach to see if she was breathing. It was shallow, but the rising and falling of her chest calmed me down to a degree.

"Come here, I've got an idea." Beth said with a smile. Before I could protest she walked into the other room and started fiddling with glasses. I took one last look at Y/N before I left her. Making sure Beth wasn't looking, I walked over to where Y/N was and hesitantly placed a kiss on her forehead. Her skin was pale and cold as ever, but she was a fighter. And I wasn't ready to give up just yet. I brushed the hair out of her face and saw how exhausted she looked.

"You comin?" I heard Beth yell from the other room. Before she could come get me, I stood up and made my way towards the back room.

"So I say something I haven't done, and if you've done it, you drink." Beth tried explaining the rules of whatever this game was.

"Don't sound like much of a game."

"I'll go first. I've never... I've never shot a crossbow." I looked to my glass and back up to Beth. She nodded for me to drink and pushed the glass closer with that, I picked up the shot glass and downed my first shot of moonshine.

"Your turn."

"Never been outside of Georgia." I said.

"Really? Okay, nice one." She drank and then refilled her glass, prepared for the next round.

"I've never..." She paused and looked up at me.

"What"

Her gaze switched from me to the room where Y/N rested and back. I peered over her shoulder to see if Y/N was up, but unfortunately not.

"Never been in love." She said.

"Didn't you have two boyfriends?" She tilted her head down at my comment, as if searching for something else to say.

"Never been in love, true love. In love with someone that I would risk anything just to make sure they got to spend another day by my side." She said and sat back on her legs. I glared daggers at her, hinting that she was walking on thin ice, but she could care less. I grabbed the whole bottle of moonshine and stood up.

"You win." I said walking back to the room where Y/N was and sitting in the chair across from the couch. I took a swig from the bottle and watched as Beth strolled into the room. She leaned against the doorframe that separated the two rooms and smiled.

"You two belong together." She said and then went back to the table we were at. I turned my gaze to Y/N and smirked, confident that she would be okay.

---------

It was the middle of the night and I kept falling in and out of sleep. Beth's been passed out from exhaustion and drinkin so much. Leaving me to my thoughts. I didn't want to sleep, being that Y/N could wake up at any moment, and I wanted to be the first one she saw when she woke up. I sat on the floor beside the couch and held her limp hand in mine. It was a lot cooler than before, and her breathing got more and more shallow. All of a sudden, the consistent breathing she maintained came to a stop and she wasn't responding to her name when I spoke to her.

"Y/N? Wake up, cmon." I shook her shoulders and tried to get a sign showing me she was alive. I grabbed he wrist and checked for a pulse, hoping to God there'd be one.. Nothing.

"Y/N stay with me!" I yelled progressively louder and ended up performing what little I knew about CPR. After several attempts she still sat there, lifeless. I collapsed onto the floor and started breathing heavy. Tears formed at the brim of my eyes and I couldn't handle her not being here. I held my head in my hands and let out quiet sobs that soon got louder and turned to whimpers.

"...Da-ryl." I heard a soft, groggy voice call out. My head snapped up and I saw Y/N slowly stretch her arm out to reach me. I almost fell on my face, struggling to get to her. I grabbed her and and squeezed it in mine, making sure she knew I was there.

"You're alive." I said breathlessly. Her eyes opened up and turned into a confused expression.

"And you're crying." She said softly wiping the tears off of my cheeks.

"Why are you-" before she could finish her sentence I pushed forward and crashed my lips onto hers. She was frozen for a moment, but then melted into the kiss and ran her hand through my hair. I gripped the back of her head with my hands and brought her closer. I broke away to catch my breath and put my forehead against hers.

"Don't leave me again." I said trying to hide what little dignity I still had left. She held my head up and looked at me with tears in her eyes.

"Never."
