Sherlock:
You meet John while you were lucky enough to go see Sherlock in action and doing what he does best: deducing. You were shocked to see how completely different John was than you imagined. You beamed with joy as you finally got to meet the man who Sherlock was proud to call his "best friend."
John:
You weren't sure what to expect. You heard so many great stories about Sherlock: World's Greatest Detective. Yet John had advised you that Sherlock can be a bit arrogant. Part of you was excited, part of you was nervous, you just couldn't wait for dinner that evening.
