Chapter 69

Y/n's POV

After meeting with Luminous and her followers, we started preparing for the festival that papa had planned for our nation. I was helping mama move letter that Rigurd was writing before I heard someone running towards the room. "Big sis~! Come play with me!" Kumara shouted, barging into the room. I looked at her and sighed while mama just giggled. "Go on, I should be able to handle this easily by myself." Mama said. I smiled and nodded, setting the stack of letters I had in my hands down on the table. "Alright, thank you for allowing me to go play with Kumara." I said, waving to mama as I left the room. I grabbed Kumara's hand as we headed out of the capital building, heading towards the market to get some food and find something to do. While we were out at the market, I saw papa visiting a stall to get a glass of juice that was made by the merchant. We stopped and talked with him a little before he headed off to the capital.

"So big sis, I've wanted to challenge you to something." Kumara said.

"What's that?" I asked.

"I know, mister Hakurou has been training you and I've been training too. At least as much as I can in this form. So I want to challenge you to a sparring match." Kumara said. 

"Really? Are you sure?" I asked. Kumara nodded and pulled a folding fan out from her waistband. I smiled and nodded before motioning for her to follow me. The two of us headed to the training fields where Gobta and his troops were training with Hakurou. "Hey Hakurou! Can you help me with something?" I called, waving at him. Hakurou turned and looked at me while easily still fending off Gobta and his troops. "What is it I can help you with?" Hakurou asked.

"Kumara has been training recently and wants to test her strength against mine in a sparring match. Would you be willing to referee it?" I asked. Hakurou chuckled before smiling as he blocked another strike from Gobta. "Of course, I'd be happy to judge your match. Just give me a moment while I finish this sparring match myself." Hakurou said. I nodded as he turned back to Gobta and his troops before easily knocking most of them out in a few swift strikes. Once he was done dealing with Gobta and his troops, Hakurou turned towards me and Kumara. "Alright you two, I'm ready to referee your match now. Lady Y/n, I trust you understand that you'll be using a wooden sword while Kumara uses her fan to fight. Is that alright with you?" Hakurou asked. I nodded as he tossed me the wooden sword that he had been using while training Gobta and his troops. 

I walked a ways away from Kumara before turning around and raising my sword, ready to fight. "Are you both ready?" Hakurou asked.

"Ready." I called.

"Ready!" Kumara called.

"You may begin!" Hakurou shouted. I rushed towards Kumara, trying to strike with a downward slash. Kumara used her fan to block it before easily opening her fan and slashing towards me. I jumped back, dodging her attack while preparing for my next strike. I used Flash Step to get close before using a horizontal slash to catch her off guard. Kumara easily jumped over me before trying to kick me with her right leg. The two of us started exchanging attacks, dodging most of them while counterattacking. I eventually finished the match by placing my practice sword's tip to her throat while her hand with her fan was in the air. "That's it! Lady Y/n has won the match!" Hakurou called. I let out a sigh of relief before lowering my sword as Kumara smiled, looking up at me. "You're amazing big sis! I wonder if I'll ever be able to beat you." Kumara said.

"I'm sure you will one day, just not today." I said. We walked over to Hakurou, who was smiling at us before stepping forward. "That was an amazing match, lady Y/n. You did very well too, Kumara. I never knew you were training with the fan, but it seems lady Y/n was the faster of you two for now." Hakurou said. 

"Yeah, big sis is amazing. Although I'm going to keep training and some day beat her." Kumara said.

"I'll be here whenever you want to challenge me again." I said, patting her head. We thanked Hakurou for being the referee for our match before heading back towards the market. While we were there, we looked around for some food to get so we could cook at home since I normally tried cooking for her when I could. Kumara wanted some meat while I bought some fish for myself. When we got home, I had Rapheal take over while cooking before Kumara and I sat down to enjoy the food that Rapheal prepared. After we finished eating, Kumara asked for some manga which I provided before we read late into the night. Kumara ended up falling asleep while reading the manga that I gave her. I covered her with my blanket before turning off the light in the room. Papa used Thought Communication to let me know that he invited Yuuki to the festival. He also mentioned that Fuze and Mjollmile were coming as well, but Mjollmile was going to be working on setting up a fast-food restaurant in Tempest that uncle Veldora was going to help run.
