The loud music that could make one's blood pump, the flashing lights, and the electrifying atmosphere filled the afterparty. The crowd was a mix of people from all walks of life, dancing, and socializing, making the most of this party.
The vibrant energy was contagious, but Lea simply sat lazily in the corner with a blank face.
Her back had almost fused with the couch, legs stretched out lazily, eyes barely blinking. She was just blank, having no poise or awareness of her surrounding. Her eyes were open, but her mind was just blank.
Soon, however, the music penetrated the pin-drop silence in her mind, albeit it sounded a little distant. The lively chattering slowly grew audible and after another few seconds, Lea gasped for air as she blinked.
"Haha!" the first thing she heard loud and clear was everyone's laughter.
Lea blinked, confused. She looked around at the people, catching a few people melting in their seats with a blank expression. Some of them were just talking and laughing, only to stop when they saw her coming back from the lalaland.
"So? How's the experience?" Lea flinched when a person's breath caressed the shell of her ear, turning to see the person who made him drink. "I told you it's harmless. It'll just make you a little... blank. Nothing crazy."
Nothing crazy?
Lea mentally scoffed, trying to clear up her foggy mind. Her hands were still a little numb and her muscles felt more relaxed. Seeing that some of the people around the table were just staring blankly into nothingness made her realize she was like that for a moment.
"It's good if you want to relax your mind, but if you want to have fun, then you add more dose," said the man, stroking Lea's thighs that made her freeze on the spot. "Do you want more? I'll give you more. My treat."
Lea looked at the man squarely, feeling this fear creeping up her spine. She wanted to slap this man's hand from her thigh, but she was so frozen in fright that all she could do was stare at him.
"What do you say?" the man asked once again after a moment of silence, tilting his head to the side. "I'll treat you more so you can enjoy the experience if you do me a favor."
"A favor?"
The corner of the man's lips stretched into an evil smirk. "You're friends with Jennie Kim, right?"
"Huh?"
"How about you give her a glass?" The man peeled his hand from her thigh and rested his arm over the headrest, bending over to pick up a glass. When he leaned back, he moved the glass between her and Lea.
"If you made her drink this, tell her to come to room 302," he continued, licking his cunning smirk like a hungry wolf. "I'll reward you after that."
"Re—reward?" Lea stuttered, holding her breath as she thought of the man's intention. For sure, this man bore evil intentions.
But why did he want Jennie to drink this?
Lea's eyes fell on the drink between the two of them, assuming this man already put something into it. She then slowly raised her gaze at him once more, only to see him wiggle his brows.
"Let me have a taste of your friend, Miss Jung," the man smiled until his eyes were squinting. "I got a recording of you while you were out. You don't want that recording to give you the fame you want, right?"
Her heart instantly sank the moment the man's last sentence rolled out of his mouth. At this very moment, Lea had a realization. Jennie was correct. These people... were bad news. However, this realization came late because he already had something he could use against her.

"I'm sorry, Jennie."
Jennie raised her brows at Lea as the latter dragged her to the corner this time. Fortunately, Jennie was just talking to some friends she worked with and easily excused herself.
"I was harsh," Lea continued, gripping the glass. "I didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I'm sorry for not thinking before I speak, and I ended up saying hurtful stuff. I know you only meant well."
Jennie pressed her lips into a thin line, sighing at Lea's somber expression. "Lea, why do you look more sad when you were the one who said hurtful stuff?" Her voice had a tinge of humor.
"I know you didn't mean all those things, so don't worry." Jennie slowly flashed Lea a smile. "I already forgave you even before you asked."
Lea peeked at her, forcing a smile, but failed miserably.
"Cheer up." Jennie pressed her thumb on the corner of Lea's mouth, moving them upward. "Everything is good, Lea. It's a good night! I just found someone who can help you with a project."
"Huh?"
Jennie grinned from ear to ear, seemingly excited about something. "Just wait for a call. I already gave them your contact number since they already saw the project you appeared in."
"Oh..." Lea rocked her head, having mixed emotions about the news and the drink in her hand.
"What's this?" Just then, Jennie noticed the drink in her hand. "Is this the one you're drinking?"
"Uh... yes." Lea let out a nervous laugh, only to see Jennie frown.
"Don't drink too much, Lea," Jennie reminded with a pout. "But well, I'm sure you already know that. Sorry. I almost nagged you again."
Lea just smiled, glancing at the alcohol in her hand before raising her eyes to Jennie. The latter was still smiling, brows raised.
'I can't do this to her,' she told herself, only to feel some people's gazes on her. When she moved her eyes to them, she felt her breath hitch at the sight of the man, casually swaying his phone.
"Ahem!" Lea cleared her throat, facing her friend squarely. "Jennie, I'm really sorry for everything."
"Hmm? I said it was fine."
"As a peace offering, how about a drink?" Lea offered, forcing to keep a wide smile. "I know you have a low alcohol tolerance, but this drink isn't as bitter as it looked."
"Huh?" Jennie blinked, gazing at the glass that had what seemed to be a rum inside, and then back up to Lea. "You want me to drink that?"
"Yes!" Lea almost yelled in a hurry, clenching her teeth while smiling. "It's a little weird, but you should try it. I mean, you've been working hard even after you bagged the best actress award, so loosen up a bit."
There was a moment of silence between the two, so Lea spoke again.
"Don't tell me we won't celebrate this achievement?" she asked, frowning.
Seeing that sadness and disappointment was slowly turning up on Lea's face, Jennie sighed helplessly.
"Just one glass, okay?" Jennie huffed, taking the glass from Lea. "Let's get you some drink too so we can cheer on this achievement."
Little did Jennie know, one glass was enough to change the course of her life. However, the things she knew weren't the worst part yet. It was the things she didn't know until now. The secrets that Lea kept to herself which she planned to take to her grave, and also the very reason, Lea stayed away from illegal substances.
