Days later...

The thought of playing with guns delighted Jennie that she forgot one strangest thing in Lisa's remarks at that time in the gym.

Did he say he has friends?

Now that the day of the target shooting came and both husband and wife were on their way to the country club, this question crossed her mind.

"Darling, my husband, did you say you were going to meet with your friends?" Jennie asked, turning her head to the person sitting beside her in the backseat.

"Mhm." Lisa nodded, a bit surprised at this sudden random question.

"You have friends?" she blurted out in a gasp, warranting the attention of the two people in the front seat: the driver and Kim Jisoo.

Lisa blinked ever so tenderly. "I do."

"That's... new." Jennie cleared her throat while Lisa chuckled. "I didn't know you have friends."

Lisa reached for her hand, not a bit displeased at her assumptions. "They're some people I knew back in college. I don't regularly meet them under such circumstances."

"Circumstances?"

"Mhm. I meet some of them for business, but not for leisure."

"Oh..."

"They arranged this meeting with a mix of both," he added while her lips formed into an o-shape. "Also, because one of our friends came back to the country after a year of living abroad."

"Oh?" Jennie raised her brows, slightly intrigued by what sort of friends Lisa had. "Well, I hope they're fun."

"About that... I don't think so."

"Huh?"

"I don't think they're fun."

"Then why are you meeting them if they're no fun to hang out with?"

"Just because." Lisa shrugged, but despite that vague answer, Jennie already understood what he meant by that.

He was joining them because he was taking her.

"You didn't plan to come until you asked me, huh?" she mumbled, but he still smiled.

"I'm coming because you're coming," he clarified. "You're the only fun thing about this meeting."

"Aww. How sweet! Should we flirt then?" Jennie cupped her cheeks, fluttering her eyelashes ever so tenderly.

"Should we?"

"Hmm. Nope." Jennie put her hand away from her cheek, tipping her head to the people in the front seat. "I'm afraid Assistant Kim will get angry at me again."

Jisoo, who was doing his best to shun the conversation in the back seat, almost gasped in surprise. He didn't look back, though, but he glanced at the driver beside him. The latter simply cast Jisoo a side-eye, not reacting to anything. Unlike Jisoo, the driver was more used to this type of scenario unfolding in the backseat. Well, thanks to his job, being a driver distracted him from focusing on other things aside from the road.

"Why would Jisoo get angry at you?" asked Lisa with genuine wonder in his eyes.

"Because he will think I am poisoning your mind again."

"Young madam, please don't joke like that." This time, Jisoo couldn't help but defend himself reasonably. "The master might think you're being serious."

"Did he tell you that?" Lisa ignored his assistant, almost making Jisoo throw his hands in the air.

Jennie glanced at Jisoo before she settled her attention on her husband. "I'm kidding, but I'm just concerned about him."

Concern?! Where in that sentence [I'm afraid Assistant Kim will get angry at me and he thinks I am poisoning your mind] was she so concerned about? If anything, those lines of sentences were pure slander!

'I can't believe I am still putting up with this,' he thought, thinking that the young madam truly picked up a habit of picking on him at the most random times.

Jennie would just drag him whenever she felt like it. It was as if she was purposely trying Jisoo not to like her too much!

Just what was wrong with her?!

"Hehe." Jennie simply giggled, squeezing herself into Lisa's side. Pleased that she poked Jisoo's temper again, she changed the topic as if nothing happened.

"Baby, what were your friends like? Won't they get angry that I'm with you?"

"Why would they?"

"Well, I'm just worried they will feel a little awkward."

"It's fine." Lisa smiled reassuringly at her. "They won't mind."

"Are you sure?"

"Mhm. If they do, they can just leave."

'Well, make sense.' Jennie mentally nodded, although deep in her heart, she didn't feel the slightest nervousness about meeting his friends. They were just her husband's friends, and their opinion was something that didn't matter to her.

They were not the Manoban family, after all.

"I hope they will like me." She smiled, warranting an approving smile from her husband.

"I'm sure they will," he said. "Also, Miss Bae will be there. So, you won't feel overwhelmed by the guys."

"Irene?" the smile on her face almost disappeared at the name he dropped. "You mean, Irene Bae?"

"Mhm. She came back to the country a few days back, so our friends arranged this meeting as a welcoming party," Lisa explained. "Initially, I didn't want to go, but since you said you're bored, I reconsidered."

"Ohh... so she's back, huh?"

"Mhm. She was stationed abroad to manage their international office last year."

"I see." Jennie rocked her head, having this different emotion at this additional information. 'Damn. I almost forgot about her!'

In the beginning, Jennie already thought of this woman for many reasons. Irene Bae even made it to her suspect list back then, but she burned that list when she busted the person who ended the original Jennie.

It had been months since then. Even Lea was stroking the bars now.

But now that Lisa mentioned this woman again, all the memories she had about this woman surged in her mind like a dam suddenly broke.

'Irene Bae...' Jennie smiled subtly, resting the side of her head on her husband's shoulder. '... please be good, or you might be the third person I'm sending to jail.'

Irene Bae didn't do anything bad to the original Jennie. Although those two women had short encounters and small talks that weren't noteworthy, there was a reason Jennie had this terrible impression of that woman.

After all, from all the memories in her mind, the entire Manoban family was rooting for Irene Bae to be Lisa's wife. They all thought she would be Lisa's wife, and even Grandma Manoban was thinking of arranging her grandson and Irene Bae.

If not for Jennie and the child inside her womb, Irene Bae would've surely become her husband's wife.

"Lisa?" she called, snapping her eyes up to him. When Lisa gazed down at her, a subtle smile turned up on her face. "I love you."

His eyes softened, lowering his head to plant a kiss on her head. "I love you more."
