"Lisa is being weird." Jennie huffed, scratching her temple with her index. "He kept giving me this odd gaze, which is strange."
She turned to the person she dragged to the balcony to listen to her rant. Bear raised his brows, staring at her with slight confusion.
"Is this the reason you asked your husband and son to run you an errand?" he asked, a little confused about his role here. "Because your husband's upset you?"
"No?" Jennie shrugged, folding her arms under her chest. "I mean, maybe? It's because of this girl."
"A girl?"
"This girl who saved him in the past."
Bear blinked, waiting for her to give him some more details to understand where she was coming from. Seeing that look on his face, a deep huff slipped past her nostril.
"Had I mentioned Lisa was kidnapped when he was a child?" she asked, and Bear shook his head. "Well, now you know."
"What about it?"
"He said there was this little girl who saved him." Jennie sighed once more, throwing her back on the couch. "I didn't mind back then, but all of a sudden, he kept having dreams about her. What if she's my husband's first love? A twin flame? Is this the point that a love rival appears in the story?"
"Uh..." Bear ran his tongue across his inner cheek, assessing the level of seriousness in her eyes.
From what he could see, Jennie seemed truly invested in this 'dilemma.' How strange. Was she truly threatened by a little girl from her husband's past? Despite that, a lingering question was stuck in his mind.
"How did she save him?" he asked, out of plain curiosity.
"No idea." She shrugged once again. "But that's what he said. That's not the point, though. I don't like the fact that a part of my husband's thoughts is being occupied by another girl."
Jennie slowly pointed at herself. "He should only be thinking about me. Me, his wife."
"..." Bear looked at her with slight helplessness. "I think..."
"Hmm?" her brows rose, eyes gleaming with intrigue as if she was all ears in whatever he got to say.
"... you are bored, Boss." A deep exhale slipped past Bear's, staring at her with slight pity. "It's been six months since that incident and you've been idle since. The second young master was even busy as well, and now, the little master will start his school again. I think you're a bit stressed, knowing you won't have anything else to do once class starts."
"..."
Her expression instantly died at the first sentence of his remarks. However, she didn't argue with him because a part of her knew this fact.
She was bored.
This was the longest time she did nothing but play a housewife. Although it was fun and she had no complaints, she got used to the chores that she would finish even before the clock hits lunchtime.
Jennie was bored to the bones.
"Gosh..." she pinched the bridge of her nose, thinking about the days once her son started schooling again. "... I am content with this life."
"I know you are. You don't have to make sure you are." A subtle smile turned up on his face. "If you're really bored, why not try some stuff?"
"Like?"
"Painting? Cross stitch? Knitting, perhaps?" Bear guessed with an indifferent shrug. "But if I'm going to be honest with my suggestions, I'd suggest you enroll yourself in extreme sports."
A deep exhale escaped her partially parted lips, having this slight headache just thinking about how to quench the growing boredom in her heart. Even Lucas was busy with his company. After filming all of her scenes, Jennie had been thinking of activities to do.
At first, she was satisfied with just binge-watching movies and series. She also got into playing games for a little while, but all of those didn't interest her anymore. If anything, she couldn't even bring herself to do them just by thinking about it.
"I might try knitting," she mumbled, her expression still dead. "As much as possible, I want to escape the extreme activities."
"Why?" he blurted out, but then realized the reason. "Right. You will want for more."
"Yep." Jennie rocked her head, sighing for the umpteenth time today. "Anyway, any news about Primo?"
"No. He left the country six months ago. I'm guessing it had something to do with the manufacturing of the drugs. After all, it was a hit in the underground."
"That bastard. I bet his bed is made of bills."
"But he's still out there for Assistant Lyn's head."
Jennie arched a brow. "Oh? Do tell."
"When the article about him and Jung Lea was released, he asked someone to find out who the person behind the article was. He found out it was Assistant Lyn, so he sent out people to get her head."
"I see..." Jennie nodded in understanding, just hearing this now because she hadn't been mentally prepared for anything like this after her incident with Lea. Not that she needed to focus on the matter, knowing Bear was handling this case.
"She's still contacting me, so I guess you settled the matter," she said, and Bear nodded. "As expected from you."
"Even so, I have to move her somewhere. Assistant Lyn and her parents, I mean."
"That's given." Jennie rubbed her chin as she arched a brow. "Though, I'm intrigued. I made sure to put a security wall in her IP. How did this prick find out?"
Bear maintained the same solemn look, staring at her without saying anything, as if he wanted her to guess.
"Joker?" she guessed, furrowing her brows.
"I didn't want to tell you about him, but yes." Bear drew a deep breath as he rested his arms on his legs. "Joker had been accepting freelance jobs and Primo Rossi is his regular client. I mentioned it before."
"Yeah, I almost forgot about that detail."
"I think you should focus on honing what you already have, Boss," Bear advised with genuine concern. "These sorts of details were something you wouldn't miss or forget in the past. I'm worried."
Jennie scratched her temple with her index once again, a little guilty at that. "I know. I feel like I was rusting."
"Or maybe, growing complacent," he corrected. "Either way, Primo Rossi is still out there. Andrea Ng and Jung Lea might be locked up behind bars, but that man is dangerous. I looked into him and I can tell he's someone you'll keep an eye on, even as Jane."
A moment of silence befell the two as they looked at each other. After another moment, Bear lowered his head before pushing himself up. At the same time, the door of the balcony flew open.
"Mommy, we're back~!" Jevin hurriedly went to her, casting Bear a look when he was beside his mother.
"I'll be on my way, young madam. If you have other concerns, do not hesitate to tell me," said Bear monotonously with a bow before turning on his heel.
When he walked away, he stopped by the door and bowed at Lisa.
Lisa glanced at Bear as the latter stepped aside. He said nothing, marching toward the balcony before Bear went on his way to let the family enjoy the rest of the weekend.
