Around Tenroujima Island, as the guild searched for the first master’s grave, large monsters roamed, chasing them down. Elfman and Evergreen sprinted away from a monstrous, boar-like creature on their heels.

“A real man wouldn’t be running from monsters!” Elfman shouted as he dashed alongside Evergreen.

“Just shut up and keep running!” she snapped, glancing back anxiously.

Just then, the creature lunged toward her. Without thinking, Elfman reacted.

“Look out!” he shouted, grabbing Evergreen and pulling her off the path. They tumbled down a slope, landing with a thud.

“Ouch…” Elfman groaned, trying to shake off the impact.

Evergreen, realizing he was still holding her, quickly pushed him away. “Hey! What do you think you’re doing?”

Elfman looked puzzled, but she continued, “The whole ‘act’ earlier, with Lisanna and Juvia? That was just to throw them off guard! You didn’t start getting any ideas, did you?”

“Of course not! But hey, thanks—it was a underhanded trick, I’ll give you that,” Elfman said with a grin.

“Don’t call it ‘underhanded,’” she muttered.

Before they could say more, they heard a rustling in the nearby trees. Turning, they saw a dark-haired man emerging from the woods, watching them silently.

“People…?” the man murmured, looking bewildered.

Elfman and Evergreen exchanged a confused glance.

“Who are you?” Elfman demanded suspiciously.

“Only members of our guild are supposed to be here,” Evergreen added firmly.

“A guild? Oh, I see… so this island belongs to one,” the man replied, seeming to process the idea.

“Hey, I’m talking to you!” Elfman barked, stepping toward him.

The man’s eyes went wide with panic, and he backed away. “No! Don’t come any closer… please!”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” Elfman asked, frowning.

“I’ll go, just… keep your distance,” the man pleaded.

“What’s with this guy?” Evergreen whispered, unnerved.

“Maybe we should just let him be,” Elfman suggested.

Suddenly, the man clutched his head in agony. “It’s… it’s no use! It’s coming… the predatory death… it’s coming!”

Without warning, he unleashed a pulse of dark energy that withered the plants around them.

“Get down!” Natsu shouted, tackling Elfman and Evergreen to the ground just in time.

The man’s eyes widened in shock at the sight of Natsu, and tears began to roll down his face.
